Picking up my speed I push through the finish line of my race out of breath.
Leaning over with my hands on my knees I kissed the necklace my dad got me since he wasn't here like he would've been back home. It had a heart pendant but with A engraved into it both Chloe and I had his while my brother had our moms.
"Hey good race Chas." My team member/ roommate Kenya came up to me
"Thank you sis." I smiled at her "I gotta put more work in I almost slipped up the last couple seconds." I said being honest
"Girl Shanice wouldn't have let you live that down." She said in her thick Ghana accent
"Kenya I'm proud of you baby girl." Her Dad Khalif came up and hugged her making me smile at the moment
"Thank you Daddy, you remember my roommate Chasity?" She said directing the attention to me
"Ah yes, how are you and your family. Are they here today?" He asked
"I won so I'm good." I laugh a little "But not they aren't here today." I bit at my bottom lip it was the first time since I was middle school that they didn't make it to one of my meets "Ima catch up with you later." I told Kenya before disappearing into the locker room and going to check my phone seeing that my dad FaceTimed me so I instantly called him back
"Yo wassam wit it." He answered making me roll my eyes but smile at the fact he still thought he was young
"Hey Daddy." I said grabbing my duffel bag and started to walk to my dorm
"I'm sorry baybeh for not makin' ya meet you know we would've been there."
Sighing lowly before talking "Its okay, I did win but I slacked at the end." I told him truthfully
"Hm. What's your trainin schedule look like." He eyed me as he always did to make sure I was focused
"I have the same schedule I've been having." I told him arriving to my room and throwing my bag down and sitting on my bed
"You neva had dat problem before so what's goin on?"
"Dad nothing!" I said making him raise an eyebrow at me like yell again "I'm sorry it's just a lot with classes, training, having a social life, going through a break up and missing my family." I finally expressed
"A break up?" He questioned with a confused face "I'a be there tomorrow morning."
"Dad-"
"I said I'll be there I just gotta let Kay take over the class of my Art program." He explain talking about my older cousin
"What about mom and the twins." I said trying to avoid him coming here
"She'll most likely come I'll talk to you later Duni I gotta make a few calls." He said hanging up without giving me the chance to reply back
Hearing knocking at my door I went to answer it seeing Josh making me instantly close the door but he put his foot between the empty space to stop me
"Josh move." I told him already annoyed at the fact he was here
"Chasity let me explain." He practically begged
"What is it to explain?" I laughed bitterly "That you cheated on me when I needed you the most? Or the fact that you were my best friend and changed once we got to college?" I asked waiting for an answer but he didn't give one beside clearing his throat "Josh I'm done." With that being said he moved his foot and I closed the door
