Congratulations to inkandscribbles for getting the correct answer! (Chapter 10 of Book 1)

After dinner, Fionnuala changed into one of Derek's shirts before lying down on the bed. Again, she left space between them and Derek didn't push it.

The next morning, the 16-year-old quickly made herself and Derek breakfast and made sure all her homework was in her bag before going to check on her boyfriend who still appeared to be fast asleep. She checked the time and sighed, knowing she wouldn't be able to wait for him to get up before she had to leave.

"Bye, handsome," she whispered, giving him a kiss.

She turned to leave and heard, "Bye, sunshine. Have a good day at school."

"There's breakfast for you in the kitchen. Do not exert yourself today, understand?"

"I hear you," he answered, his eyes still closed. "See you later."

"Love you."

"Love you too," he hummed as he fell back asleep.

Stiles glanced over at his sister during chemistry and noticed her leg bobbing up and down.

"Fi, what's wrong? You've been doing that all day."

"Just worried about Derek," she mumbled.

"What? Do you think he's not listening to you?"

"No. Well, yes, partially."

"What do you mean, partially?"

"I'll explain after class."

Silence fell between them as they returned their full attention to Mr. Harris.

As soon as class was over, Stiles was up and following his sister out into the hallway.

"So, what do you mean when you say partially?"

"Derek doesn't take his injuries as seriously as he should. I understand when he doesn't feel the need to make a big deal out of little cuts and bruises. But when it comes to the bigger ones-"

"What do you mean by 'bigger ones'?"

"The ones that, if he got into a fight, would impede his ability to defend himself."

"And I take it that one of those injuries is what you're talking about?"

"Yeah. Our Winter Formal dance was interrupted last night because I discovered an injury he has been keeping from me for the past week."

"Where is it?"

"On his side."

"And how much would it impede his ability to fight?"

"A kick to the ribs and he's down."

"Do you know what caused it?"

"When Peter threw him against the wall of the school a few weeks ago. The following week, he was tortured by Kate in that basement with electrical wires attached to his side which were preventing him from healing."

"What happened to it healing between those events?"

"He was working out. Intense workouts. So it was also impeding his ability to heal."

"So you've told him to stop with the workouts?"

"Yeah."

"You won't get him shirtless as much then!"

"Why are you so concerned about that?" Fionnuala looked at him strangely.

"Only concerned for my sister's well-being." Stiles shrugged.

"Mm-hm, sure. I can still find ways to get him shirtless without having him workout. And even if I didn't, I have plenty of shirtless pics of Derek."

"Ooh, can I see?"

"Absolutely not!" She shoved him lightly. "Since school is finally done, I'm gonna head over to Derek's place."

"Alright. I'll go find Scott. Let me know if you're gonna stay the night again."

"I will."

Fionnuala left and quickly ran to Derek's loft to find him lying on his bed, seemingly fast asleep.

She quietly walked around, looking for any hints at all that Derek had ignored what she had said. When she didn't see anything, she was about to sigh with relief when she remembered she had two more places to check. She hurried to the bathroom and found the mirror slightly fogged up. With a frown, she went to check the laundry room and found a sweaty shirt in the washer.

"Don't jump to conclusions," she told herself. "He probably really wanted a shower. But then, why would he have a sweaty shirt?"

Fionnuala returned to the bedroom and ran her hand through Derek's damp hair.

"Hey, babe," she whispered when she saw his eyes slowly blink open. "Feeling any better?"

"Yeah, a little," he mumbled.

"What happened this morning that made you put a sweaty shirt in the wash?" she asked, crouching next to the bed.

"That was from yesterday," he answered, closing his eyes again.

"No, you wore it to bed last night. I don't need lies, Derek. I need the truth."

"I was feeling gross when I finally got out of bed this morning. I was sweaty, so I went to take a shower. End of story."

"Fantastic. Now all I need to do is check your side and see how that's doing."

"My side is fine, Isolde. No need to check."

"I just want to make sure."

With a sigh, Derek sat up. Fionnuala lightly pressed a hand against his side. He yelled in pain.

"Why'd you press so hard?" he asked.

"I didn't." She looked at him. He could tell she was not happy. "You ignored what I told you this morning, didn't you?" Without waiting for an answer, she pulled out her phone.

"Whoa, whoa. What are you doing?"

"Texting Stiles so he can pick up a baby monitor for me at the store. I don't trust you to listen to me if I left to go get it."

Within 30 minutes of the text being sent, Stiles arrived with the requested item.

"I take it he didn't listen?" he asked when she opened the door to take it from him and he saw the hot packs in her hands.

"He's just too stubborn. I don't know what is up with him." She shook her head. "I think Kate got in his head."

"Well, if there's anybody who can get him out, it's you." He gave her a hug. "Love you lots."

"Love you too. I'm gonna stay here again tonight."

"Alright. See you at school tomorrow."

She closed the door and returned to Derek's room where he was still sitting on his bed with fresh hot packs and the baby monitor in hand.

"Okay, troublemaker. You're not gonna like what happens next."

He looked up. "Nooooo," he said, when he saw what she was holding.

"It's your own fault," she told him. "You didn't listen to what I told you. Lie down."

He obeyed with a huff, before she placed them on his side.

"Don't move," she ordered. "I'm gonna go make dinner."

"Not giving me much of a choice," he replied.

What did Fionnuala call the summer class that Derek taught her?
