"I'm saying we need a new plan, because next time, one of us is gonna be too hurt to heal," Derek told Scott when they returned to the pack meeting place.

"I get it," Scott replied. "We can't save Jackson."

"We can't seem to kill him either. I've seen a lot of things, Scott. I've never seen anything like this." He sighed. "Every new moon's just gonna make him stronger."

"But how do we stop him?"

Derek shrugged. "I don't know." He glanced up at Scott. "I don't even know if we can."

"Hey, maybe we should just let the Argents handle it."

"I'm the one who turned him. It's my fault."

"Yeah, but you didn't turn him into this. I mean, this happened because of something in his past, right?"

"That's a legend in a book," Derek said. "It's not that simple."

"What do you mean? What are you not telling me?"

"Why do you think I'm always keeping something from you?" Derek asked, sounding frustrated and confused.

"Because you always are keeping something from me!"

"Well, maybe I do it to protect you."

"Doesn't being part of your pack mean no more secrets?"

"You've only joined temporarily to help deal with Jackson," Fionnuala answered, as she entered with a bag. "That doesn't give you a right to know everything Derek knows."

"What's that?" Derek asked, nodding to the bag.

"Dinner. You didn't eat earlier. I could hear your stomach growling a mile away."

"Go home, Scott. Sleep. Heal. Make sure your friends are safe. Cause the full moon's coming. And with the way things are going, I've got a feeling it's gonna be a rough one."

Scott sighed and left as Fionnuala approached Derek with the bag of food and sat down, opening it.

"The others are gonna be arriving in a few hours, so why don't we enjoy our dinner and conversation as much as possible before they get here."

Fionnuala smiled. "I'd like that very much."

"Could you actually hear my stomach growling from a mile away?" Derek asked as they began to eat.

"I'm sure if I listened hard enough, I probably could."

"So, not literally."

"No, not literally. But seriously. You need to eat. Pretty sure the only times you eat are when I feed you. And I wasn't able to do that last night or the night before."

"I do eat. And it's not just when you feed me. I eat breakfast."

"You've been eating breakfast?"

"Yeah."

A few hours later, the other three arrived. Derek was sitting up against a wall with Fionnuala's head in his lap with his jacket wrapped around her. She was fast asleep. His head was tipped back against the wall and his eyes were closed.

"Be quiet," he said, his eyes still closed. "She's asleep."

"Why didn't she go home?" Boyd asked.

"She brought dinner for me and we talked for a little while before she fell asleep." Derek smiled at her. "So we stayed here tonight."

"Well, we're here now. So can we get on with whatever we're gonna do?" Isaac asked, impatiently.

Derek rolled his eyes. "Hey, gorgeous. Can you wake up for me?" he murmured to his girlfriend.
