Congratulations to inkandscribbles for guessing the correct answer!

Derek sighed as he entered his loft. He felt exhausted. Thankfully, his side was now fully healed so he wasn't in pain.

He took a few more steps inside before he realized the kitchen light was on. Immediately, he took out his claws on his right hand and began walking towards the kitchen. He was pressed against the wall just outside the door and was about to enter when he heard someone speak.

"I have a key."

He sighed, putting his claws away and entering the kitchen. "Isolde, you seriously need to learn to communicate."

"You know, I try to. But when you go out on these night trips, you don't take your phone. So I can't really do that." She turned around. "How's your side?"

"It's fine, thank you. Feels back to normal."

"Mm. That's good to hear. Dinner's in the microwave, by the way."

"Thanks." Derek reheated his dinner and sat down next to her. "What are you working on?"

"Econ."

"Economics? That's gotta be fun."

"Sure." She closed her books and put them in her bag. "Luckily for you, I just finished."

Derek smiled. "Yay. Sleeping over again?"

"As much as I would love to, I should actually be spending some nights in my own bed. The house was kinda quiet, which was why I came here."

"Except here is also quiet."

"Here it's a nice quiet. Besides, I know when you're coming home."

"Stiles isn't home?"

"No. He's out with Scott, probably wreaking havoc and my dad got a call and had to leave."

"Did you hear what the call was about?"

Fionnuala shook her head. "Unlike Stiles, I don't listen in on my dad's calls."

"I bet your dad's happy about that, huh?"

"I think he's just happy that at least one of his children respects his privacy." She looked over at him. "How's kanima hunting going?"

"It's frustrating. So, you didn't hear what Scott said? Who he said the kanima is?"

"No." She shook her head.

"He didn't even tell you?"

"He trusts me enough to let me in on his plan of protecting Lydia, because he knows she's been my friend since summer but not enough to let me in on who the kanima is."

"It's okay. I have an idea on who it might be."

"Care to share?"

"I think it's Jackson."

"I could talk to Stiles. He'd probably be a little more willing to let me know."

Derek nodded. "Yeah, do that."

She glanced over and saw him moving his food around his plate.

"Penny for your thoughts?" she asked.

"Hm?" he responded, looking up.

"What's on your mind?"

"Nothing."

"No, it's not nothing. You're playing with your food, Derek."

"Trust me, it's nothing."

"Alright, I'll give you a choice. Either you open up and talk to me or I'll get you an appointment with the guidance counselor."

"What?"

"Open up to me or I'm gonna have you talk to a stranger about what's on your mind."

"Just - stuff that Kate said."

"I was right then."

"Right about what?"

"A couple weeks ago when you didn't listen to me. I told Stiles that I think Kate got in your head."

"What did he say?"

"That if anyone could get her out, it would be me. What stuff did Kate say that is on your mind?"

"The fire and stuff." He set his fork down and sighed. "I know I told you about the fire, but-"

"Kate still has a way of worming her way into people's heads." Fionnuala nodded.

"I don't think I'm hungry anymore."

"That's okay. We'll just throw this out. I'm sure you're exhausted." She stood up and dumped the food in the trash.

Derek nodded. "A bit, yeah."

"Come on." She grabbed his hand and pulled him up, leading him to his bedroom. She tossed him a pair of sweats and a new shirt. "Go change."

He entered the bathroom and exited not too long after in just sweats. "Didn't want to wear the shirt."

"That's okay," she said. "Not forcing you to. Just in case you wanted one."

Derek pulled back his covers and was about to get in, but he paused. "Wait. How are you gonna get home?"

"The same way I got here. Walking."

"No, that's not okay. It's dark out. I'm gonna drive you."

"No, you're not." Fionnuala pushed him into bed and pulled the covers over him. "I walked here in the dark. I can walk back."

"No, it's not-" His protests were quickly cut off as she gave him a kiss. When she pulled away, he said, "Isolde, it's not safe."

"If I was a human, I'd say yes to you driving me home. But I'm not a human anymore, Derek. I can look after myself." She smiled, running her fingers through his hair. "I'll call you when I get home. Will that make you feel better?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"What else is going through your head?"

"Kate told me that I need to smile more."

"You do smile. Why would she tell you that?"

"Because after I killed Paige, I stopped smiling. I thought I had lost a part of me that I'd never get back. Until I met you. "

"Well, ignore her. You do smile. And when you do, it lights up my world."

"I still owe you a Winter Formal Dance," Derek told her.

"Not right now. And, Derek. The fairy lights were very sweet last time. If you're gonna do any, do a few. Don't cover the loft in them."

He pouted. "But you light up my world."

"So why do we need fairy lights?" She gave him a kiss."Get some sleep. I'll call you when I get home and we can talk more tomorrow."

"Okay. I love you."

She went over to the door and pulled her shoes on. "I love you too," she answered, before she left.
