Chapter 8: Agency

"Woah, I don't think I can eat this much," Ai exclaimed, astonished by the sight before her. The entire table was overflowing with food, leaving only a small space for them to sit and eat. Kai had certainly outdone himself.

Aqua and Ruby, seated in their baby chairs, stared wide-eyed at the feast laid out before them, drooling at the sight. I wish I could eat some too, they thought comically, tears welling up in their eyes as they imagined the delicious spread.

Kai noticed their longing expressions and chuckled. "Here, toddlers can eat mashed potatoes, am I right?" He served them generous portions of creamy mashed potatoes.

Ai nodded in agreement, grateful for the thoughtfulness. "Itadakimasu!" Aqua and Ruby exclaimed in unison as they eagerly began to dig into their food.

As they started to eat, Ai and the twins were shocked to see Kai's appetite. He dove into the meal with gusto, devouring plate after plate as if he hadn’t eaten in days.

“Wow, he really wasn’t kidding about being a big eater,” Ai remarked, her eyes wide as she watched him.

She couldn’t help but feel a mix of admiration and disbelief at his voraciousness.

The atmosphere was lively as they all continued to eat, sharing stories and laughter. The initial shock faded away, replaced by a sense of comfort and camaraderie around the table.

After a while, they all leaned back in their chairs, satisfied and full. "That was amazing!" Ai said with a smile, looking at Kai appreciatively. "You really know how to cook."

Kai grinned back at her, wiping his mouth with a napkin. "Thanks! I’m glad you all enjoyed it."

"Thank you, Kai. Your food is the best! We really enjoyed it!" Ai complimented, her eyes sparkling with appreciation.

Even Aqua and Ruby nodded their heads enthusiastically in agreement.

Kai replied with a grin, "Ahaha... it's nothing special. Glad you like it!"

"So, we'll be taking our leave first. Bye!" Ai said as she stood up, carrying the twins back to her apartment.

Kai waved at them as they left, a smile lingering on his face. Once inside his flat, he felt a rush of happiness. "This is the best day ever! Even though Ai is married... hmmm, I never got to ask about her husband. Maybe I'll ask her later," he mused to himself.

He made his way to the living room and turned on the TV, searching for something interesting to watch. As he flipped through the channels, he stumbled upon a news segment.

"Recently, a 30-year-old actress was found dead in her house early this morning. The police are starting an investigation into this case. According to the forensic team, it looks like an accident caused..."

Kai's brow furrowed as he listened intently. "An actress... she was the best actress this year. Too bad that she died in an accident," he thought, feeling a twinge of sadness for someone he had admired from afar.

"Well, it's getting late... I should sleep now..." he said to himself as he prepared for bed. Just then, he sensed an enormous Ki presence appear in the city but quickly dissipate.

"What is that Ki...? Maybe it’s just my imagination," he thought, shrugging it off as he climbed into bed. Despite the strange sensation lingering in his mind, exhaustion took over, and he drifted off to sleep, hoping for a peaceful night ahead.

"Sorry for being late. Have you been waiting long, boy?" asked Mr. Taishi, the director, as he approached Kai, wearing a black jacket.
