Brigth spent his entire shift feeling watched, by his colleagues, by Aj, and definitely by First, who spent most of the night in the club for the first time since the place opened.
Just before dawn he could finally breathe a sigh of relief when the vampire said goodbye to Aj and left for the parking lot.
Still nervous, Bright offered to restock and close the club, hoping that once the sun came up it would be safer to leave. Or that it would at least make it harder for any vampires who tried to follow him. He was fully aware that First hadn't believed him, and even without knowing what had happened between the two of them, Brigth wouldn't risk the minor's safety not least because he would rather deal with 100 vampires than his boyfriend if something happened to Khao.
---*---
First waited for news from Aj all morning, after leaving the club he went to the clan base to deal with the affairs of his people.
Over the years First had transformed and taken in many stray vampires, who were now part of the Kanaphan clan, one of the three oldest and most respected among the clans, when there were still only a dozen under his care FIrst stipulated several rules that were diligently followed by all to this day since the penalty for breaking them was torture or death, First being responsible for both, no one took any chances.
First sighed as he sat in his office, he didn't like to deal with the problems his descendants created, but he didn't mind supervising them since due to his upbringing and the influence First had they almost never broke the code, laws stipulated in the first council meeting and followed to the letter until today.
The most important ones being; 1. not to kill humans indiscriminately, description was the council's motto, as long as humans didn't suspect the existence of the creatures they didn't mind one death or another, 2. not to interfere with the precepts of other races, this rule prevented clans, packs or any other group from meddling in the affairs of others, each species had its own way of dealing with its own, only if there was a case between species the council would appoint an intermediary, 3. Never reveal the existence of the world of shadows as it was called by the creatures that lived in it and the most important of all, 4. It was strictly forbidden to get involved with the magic of demonic auras, elements sent directly from a demonic dimension possessing unimaginable powers with the sole purpose of causing pain and chaos wherever they went, once mistaken for demons they were dangerous and beautiful. There were over 100 codes to be followed, but basically most of them were derived from these 4.
After a few hours in a meeting with his second in command, Pond updated him on the changes made in the main residence and the latest news connected to the residents. After noon, when most were asleep First started the courts, where he was the interest and the executioner, fortunately there wasn't much chaos and he could close early, finally free of his duties he retired to the quarters he kept in the mansion, years ago when he bought and built the complex he had intended to live with his own but as time passed he grew tired of so many approaches with ulterior motives, the betrayals of those he considered family and the regret he felt whenever he needed to execute one of his own descendants, choosing to step aside and have a space of his own. He appointed Pond in charge of the compound, put him in charge of order and training, and kept himself in charge only of punishments being needed there only once a week.
He relied on Pond, who despite being relatively young compared to himself First knew that he was responsible and firm, leading everyone with excellence. Now sitting at his desk again, he still needed to deal with some documents, college applications, buying a house, managing a company, everything his people needed he provided so they could live as they preferred, but everything needed to go through him for approval.
When finishing some signatures First felt someone approaching and soon after someone knocked on the door.
- Come in," said First recognizing Aj's presence.
- We lost him. - said the same as soon as the door closed behind him.
First threw his pen on the table and stared at his friend waiting for an explanation.
- He left at dawn, changed trains three times before going home. I don't know what he is hiding, but Brigth knew he was being followed.
- And how exactly did you lose him?
- After he came in, I kept the house under surveillance but after a few hours I couldn't hear a sound, at first I thought he might be sleeping but I knew I still had to hear his breathing. - He had an underground exit, some connected tunnels that led to a subway station.
First sighed unable to choose between anger and frustration, why was finding a single human so difficult ?
- Sorry boss," commented Aj, surprised by the older man's reaction, "I've never seen you so interested in a human before, why do you want to find him so badly?
First faced his friend who even without knowing why just followed his orders as usual and answered .
- Honestly I don't know.Please don't forget to vote or/and coment. ❤️
