Khao was so absorbed in the books in front of him that he barely noticed when Sea left the room. He was impressed, not only by the quantity of manuscripts there but by the quality, there were several first editions of famous authors, there were also books he had never heard of. Everything in that room was perfect for him, he couldn't contain his smile as he ran his fingers between the titles enchanted.
— If I knew you would smile like that I would have brought you here sooner - whispered First, now standing right behind Khao who jumped not in surprise since he could feel the vampire approaching but because of the effect his voice had on himself.
- What are you doing. ? - ask Khao, moving away from the vampire.
First smiled. He'd been doing that a lot lately, much to his own surprise.
He didn't know how the boy would react after last night so he planned to avoid him until he knew more about him, he had already sent Aj to investigate further, starting with the boy at the club, and he also had the damn ring in his pocket that made him feverish with anger, but he couldn't contain himself when he saw him smiling like that. It was crazy what that his smile did to him.
— I heard Sea gave you a tour of the house. - asked First - I was curious to know what you thought of my humble home.
— Humble? - Khao asked sarcastically. - The only humble thing around here is the fact that you haven't a lot of paintings of yourself hanging on the walls in all 101 hallways.
— You know, I can be many things, but a narcissist is not one of them. - replied First, approaching slowly - But you know it's not a bad idea.
Khao rolled his eyes at the awkward joke and walked back to looking at the books again, regretting not checking the files as soon as he had the chance.
First didn't say anything else, he just walked two steps behind the youngest, watching him.
How could someone so beautiful, with such a pure smile, be somehow involved with the cult of Rattanak, must be some misunderstanding. It had to be.
Still looking at the works on the room, it only took Khao a second to recognize the cover of the book that was displayed on one of the side tables held under a glass top.
—Is that a Lancansyer grimoire? - Khao asked excitedly but immediately changed his own expression when he realized is mistake,  a human wouldn't know how rare that grimoire was, much less be excited to see one.
Which obviously didn't escape the vampire.
— Yes. One of the last ones she wrote before she was burned at the stake.
Khao faced the vampire who was smiling triumphantly.
— How long have you known?
— I started to suspect last night. But I wasn't sure until now.
Khao huffed angrily, if the vampire knew he was a sorcerer it was only a matter of time before he found out about his past. He couldn't let that happen.
—But I don't understand how you don't have any magical marks or exude human energy? - he questioned him
— I can't use my powers. - said khao honestly - My mother sealed them when I was younger.
It was not uncommon among low magical level wizards, emitting litlle magical energy and not having any powers could be dangerous if you ended up attracting some dangerous creature, many parents sealed the powers of the youngest until they could be developed or permanently for their own protection, the Sealing made them practically human, they could still see and feel magic and some even kept their magical mark but had no access to spells.
- I understand .
Khao knew that the vampire would draw his own conclusions, it wasn't the first time he had used this excuse and although it wasn't a lie it wasn't exactly true either.
— And why didn't you said anything? - ask First taking a step closer to the young man.
— It was just a one night stand why should I say anything? - asked the smaller boy and only received another step in response - I don't remember you telling me about your past while you fucked me against that shelf.
First smiled mischievously at the little one's provocation.
— Well, ask me anything now and I promise I'll answer the purest truth.
Khao was in dangerous territory, there was no guarantee that the vampire would actually respond to him but his provocative nature could not resist the challenge.
— Why did you agree to transform?
- Revenge.
Khao looked at him curiously.
— I was stabbed by a man who called himself my friend, when my sire found me almost dead thrown on the curb and offered me immortality in the form of a monster I didn't think about anything else, just taking revenge on the one who put me there.
Khao didn't doubt a single word, he might not be able to hear the vampire's heartbeat but he knew there was truth in that look, he would recognize that look anywhere, he saw it every time he looked in a mirror.
—What's down there in the catacombs? It was the only place Sea didn't show me. - Khao needed to know to what extent the vampire was willing to play that game, he wouldn't reveal his secrets so easily.
— That's where I keep the worst side of myself. You can't go there. - was all First could say.
He knew that he would only gain the little wizard's trust if he gave him something in return and if truths were what he wanted then that was what he would give him. Any way he could, he took another step and was now face to face with the smaller boy just a few inches away from each other.
-Why me ? - Khao asked, closing his eyes as he felt the energy emanating from the vampire who was very close.
— Because you smiled at me.
There was a deafening silence before First lightly touched khao's chin, making him feel a current of energy that completely electrified him.
— You're not going to let me leave, are you? - Khao asked, turning around abruptly.
— No. - First whispered in khao's ear before asking - Why did you run away?
— Because sleeping with you was the worst mistake I ever made.
First didn't take his eyes off the boy as he left the library, even though he never looked back at him. And he knew he meant every word said. It was the crudest truth.
And he knew that, even if he didn't like.
