Happy New Year ... (I think)

Khao practically ran out of the office.
If he had the time, he would have punched himself.  How could he let himself be affected to this extent, he had kept such a secret for years, and all it took was one word from Kanaphan to tell him everything himself.
He knew that being close to the vampire would be dangerous, for himself and his mental health apparently.
He entered the room like a rocket, startling Brigth who was still lying down but fully awake.
- What the hell man
- we need to go . - shouted Khao happy to see his friend recovered
- It's okay with me, but I don't know about the vampires. - replied Brigth, getting up without bothering to look for a shirt.
- It's almost noon, the courtyard will be empty. If we're quick, we can get out through the garage in the east corner of the mansion. - said Khao, already waiting at the door.
Brigth wasn't surprised that khao had come up with an exit plan. He was used to his friend always knowing where the doors, windows or any opening he could use as an escape were. Not to mention how the smaller man's brain never forgot anything. But he was surprised by the drill coming from him.
- What happened? - Brigth asked, now escorting Khao out. - Yesterday you were very comfortable giving orders and today you're desperate to escape.
- He knows.
Brigth, still walking, looked confusedly at Khao.
- Kanaphan knows who I am.
- Damn khao. How did he find out?
- I told him - said khao frustrated with himself.
- what the fuck did  you do? - shouted Brigth, ignoring the fact that they were hiding.
- I've lost my mind ok- whispered Khao, gesturing for the older man to shut up - and don't even lecture me.
- Quiet. - ordered Brigth.
He waited a few seconds, listening to his surroundings.  Something was wrong.
Brigth still hadn't fully recovered, but he could hear the commotion in the distance. Khao knew something was wrong just by looking at his friend's face. From the moment he left the office until now, they hadn't come across any vampires and although they were being careful, Khao knew it was being too easy.
He knew he was right when a burst of energy hit them from the wall opposite the one they were leaning against.
There was a huge hole in the wall that led straight into the courtyard. And finally khao could hear it.  Screams, explosions, fighting, all at once. Still recovering from the rubble, khao assessed what was happening outside.Vampires were fighting between the walls of the complex, avoiding the sun, while auras attacked without mercy.
It had been years since khao had last seen an aura, his whole body trembling at the proximity of its energies. And the sight was not a pleasant one, with burnt bodies that smelled of smoke, claws that could last as long as iron, lifeless eyes, they had no voice, they just shouted shrill, piercing sounds, the auras were frightening even to khao who had become accustomed to the creatures of the shadows.
It took him a while to really understand what was happening, auras had invaded the complex and they weren't just killing anything that moved, they had to be organized in some sort of trained way. Such a thought was terrifying.
- Khao - shouted Brigth, just in time for the smaller man to dodge an aura advancing towards him.
On reflex, Khao positioned himself for a fight, but with nothing to fight with, he was helpless. He then decided to take cover back in the corridor from which he had come.-
- How did they get in here? Isn't this place supposed to be super safe? - Brigth asked.
- I don't know. - answered Khao, analyzing the situation. Vampires were running around and fighting at some of the more distant points. It wouldn't be difficult to escape unnoticed.
- We should go. Take advantage of the fact that they're distracted, - suggested Brigth as if he had read the little one's mind.
- AH!
A shout was heard from the opposite side of the courtyard.  Khao would recognize that voice, Fourth.
It didn't take much to know that the boy was in danger.  Not one but two auras were chasing him. Being human, he would be a preferable victim to vampires.
Khao didn't even think. Before he could stop himself, he was in the middle of the courtyard casting a repelling spell and driving the auras away from the boy. Who now looked at him fascinated and relieved.
- Behind me.  Now. - commanded the sorcerer.
- Khao you can't - Brigth ran to try and stop his friend.
- I won't let any more innocents die.
- I don't think we'll be leaving. - Brigth said, preparing himself.
Khao knew he would reach his limit if he tried to deal with the auras individually, so he decided on a different approach.
He looked back to make sure the young boy was safe and turned to his friend, now completely transformed into a two-meter black wolf.
- Ready? - he asked, crouching into position and receiving a snarl in response before running and jumping into one of the auras that was recovering and coming back to attack them.
Khao and Brigth didn't fight many battles together, they trained from time to time, but Khao liked to pretend they were normal, so they hardly ever did it in their true form.  In the two minutes that Khao needed to accumulate energy to cast his spell, Brigth parried every attack aimed at the sorcerer.
When a clear, blue light hit the sky coming directly from khao's hands, all the auras were drawn to it. Giving khao enough time to cast a protective shield around the entire complex. No aura or creature with demonic energy could get through.
As soon as she finished the shield, he felt all his energy being drained out of him. He knew he would pass out at any moment.
- Khaotung! - shouted First finally reaching the courtyard, he was be trapped between his vampires in an endless fight until all the auras withdrew. Giving him seconds to run into the courtyard and witness the sorcerer saving everyone.
A fierce, loud roar was all Khao heard before he fell unconscious.
The vampire could hear khao's heart beating more and more slowly and as an involuntary response ran towards him.
But he was stopped. By the huge wolf that stood between him and his friend. Roaring and howling.  The vampire understood that Brigth would not let him get close.  And honestly, ever since he'd kidnapped him, he hadn't given him any reason to.
Fourth was closer to the sorcerer and quickly reached him, startled to see if he was still breathing.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he realized that he was.
- He needs help. - shouted Fourth, ignoring the vampire and the wolf who were still staring at each other.
- I can help.
- Why? - grunted Brigth as he returned to his human form
.- What do you mean. ? - asked the angry vampire
- You know who he is, what he stands for, why would you help him, Mr. Kanaphan?
He could say it was because he was madly in love with the boy, but that was before he knew that he represented everything that First had spent years hating. And if everything he had told him was true, then did he have any right to love him after everything he had done to him?
- He just saved us all. It's the least I can do. - He lied.
- It won't do any good. - Brigth stared at his friend, still in the young teenager's arms. - There's no one here who can help him now.
