Khao spend the whole afternoon locked away hiding in his room, first he just lay down and thought about everything he said and did the night before when he met one of his biggest nightmares and decided to sleep with him.
First Kanaphan was one of those responsible for the death of both of Khao's parents.
He was probably there the day they hunted his father, maybe he even helped to execute him and yet the moment his hands touched Khao he felt a surge of energy like he had never felt before, it made him feel alive and for the first time in years he felt good and he hated himself for it.
It was just one night to do as he pleased, a night without running away, without worring.
As he danced glued to First's cold body he thought that maybe he deserved such a night.
But now, sitting in his room, wondering where he should run away, he was no longer so sure.
After an hour lost in his thoughts he finally stood up and took the ready-made backpack he had kept under his bed since he was ten years old. His mother made him always be prepared, since they never knew when they would have to run.
He checked his false documents, if he had enough money, put up some pictures that were on his wall, a picture with Win and Brigth, one of the library, he loved that place and one of his parents when they were still young, many years before khao was born, before everything went wrong.
Feeling a headache starting he pulled out his father's ring that he kept hidden under the bed. Win would kill him if he found out he was wearing it again but unfortunately he couldn't sleep properly without it, he put it in his pocket and took one last look around his room.
When he finally left his room, Khao was ready to go, dressed as usual in his combat boots, a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. He saw the couple sitting on the couch, Brigth had one hand on Win's shoulder while the other held his hand, comforting him as he let tears fall from his eyes.
- Come on, Win, it's not like it's the first time I'm leaving.
- It's not fair - Win sighed and stood up exalted - Why do you have to run away, they've killed your parents, them and their stupid law, with their prejudiced thoughts about what they don't understand, they should run away.
- Maybe I should stay then ? - considered Khao - Maybe it's time to stop running ?
- You've lost your mind, they would kill you - reminded Brigth.
- I know - said Khao gloomily - but I'm tired of running, and it's not like I have much time anyway.
- Don't even think about it - Win shouted angrily, getting up and pushing Khao toward the door. - Go on, it's better if you leave during the day.
- Win, I
- NO !
- Win - called Brigth worriedly.
Win had a bad temper, he almost never cried and although he fought a lot with Khao, he would do anything for him. Seeing his boyfriend crying and screaming like that upset Brigth.
- No, you go. - said win looking into the eyes of the younger boy - you promised your mother, no matter what happens you would keep going.
Khao hated to cry, he avoided it at any cost, he knew that if he started he wouldn't be able to stop it, but being reminded of the promise he made just before his mother died he couldn't help but feel sad, he hugged Win as tight as he could and tried to smile.
- I'd better go then. As soon as I can I'll find a way to send you some news, okay.
He walked to the nearest subway, he planned to take the train a few times before taking a bus to some city where he could hide for a few weeks.
But his plans went up in smoke when he started to feel a strange energy, something in the back of his mind was bothering him, making his body go into a state of alert, which was never good.
He felt like he was being watched, he tried to change trains to throw off whoever was but he could still feel their presence.
Annoyed khao decided to take a chance, as soon as the train stopped at the station he disembarked and walked calmly to the first bathroom he could find, as soon as he entered he had no time to react when someone called out to him and as he turned around he received a punch.
Still stunned khao tried to remember all the defense lessons his mother gave him, just in time to dodge the second punch of his attacker, who considering the speed and strength was clearly a vampire.
