A Vision

The castle slowly came into view, its metal exterior reflecting the, now, blinding moon light. Keith was nearly falling asleep in his lion, his eyelids lifting the hefty weight of sleepiness. It was almost impossible to keep his eyes on the "road" in front of him.

'You need to stay awake. You could endanger your friends.' Keith slapped himself, moderately hard, just enough to wake him up to land the lion safely, in its correct spot. Keith, tiredly, jumped from his lion's mouth. The fall to the ground seemed a lot farther than usual. Only then did he realize he hadn't laid the lion down; it was only sitting.

Colorful language flew from his mouth as he hurtled to the ground. His limbs flailed, before a flash of red and blue flashed across his vision. The next thing he knew, he was in the servo of one Autobot leader. Keith sighed in relief.

"Thanks Prime. Nice catch."

"Glad I could help. Just be careful next time." Prime set Keith carefully down on the ground, the quick bout of nervousness settling far away as the minutes passed. Pidge caught up to Keith and wrapped his small arm around Keith's waist.

"We've been nearly blown to bits by Zarkon, yet your choice of (almost) dying is by falling from your lion's mouth?"

Keith nudged Pidge teasingly, as his little friend laughed. They walked back toward the castle, its large towers casting shadows amongst the village and their new robot guardians. Keith watched as their new friends gazed in amazement at the pure beauty of the fortress; from its crystal windows to its metal shell, fortress-like look.

"You humans made this?" Optimus asked, glancing up at the tall tower. It was kind of funny, considering how tall the leader was, yet he was still short compared to the peaks.

"My father built the castle. The metal was added in as a reinforcement once the war began." Allura informed, a small blush appearing. "I wish it was brighter, but not everything can be perfect. Plus, it still functions magically."

Hunk giggled at the irony, leaning in towards Lance's ear. "Magically, literally and figuratively."

Lance continued the whispering trend with, "I don't know what that means." Hunk groaned at the missed chance at an inside joke.

'Stupid.' he thought.

The sun had begun its deep night's sleep, laying its head onto the pillow of the mountain range. While the sun had started to doze off, the moon had only just awoken, reaching its bright arms amongst the same range. It casted dark shadows over the forest's fluffy, leafed canopy. It illuminated the tops of buildings, including the castle in glistening white light. The stars twinkled overhead, like the eyes of a curious beast glaring from its place in the darkness.

With the paladins and princess heading to their rooms, readying for the night, the Transformers parked outside, enjoying the quiet breeze that whistled every now and then. It was calming for the nervousness that hung in the air slightly, while not heavy...for most at least.

Though there was no over looming darkness, or death ahead, Allura could not sleep, twisting and turning every which way. It wasn't anything to do with giant robots settled outside her window or the whispers of the Autobots chatting about their day. But even though the young princess considered herself in tune with her emotions, she could not figure out why there was this strong feeling of anxiety wrapping around her sternum, reaching down to strangle her stomach like a large python.

"Allura! Allura!" A quiet voice whispered amongst the white noise. Someone was in her room, but no one had knocked, and, when Allura had looked out her window, none of the bots had transformed.

There was only one possibility.

"Allura! Daughter!" King Randor called, frantic.

"Father! What is it?" Allura sat up, pushing her blonde locks out from in front of her face. The moonlight caused her father's ghostly skin to be more fluorescent than usual. He was almost see through.

"There are enemies coming! Not now but soon!"

"What?!" Allura quickly stood, pulling her scrunched-up nightgown back over her knees.

"You must warn your friends! Quickly, before Zarkon arrives!" King Randor's voice faded into the distance as his image disappeared from Allura's room. Desperate, Allura ran to where her father had been standing, hands outstretched.

"Wait!" It was too late.

"I need you." She whispered.

Optimus could hear muffled sounds of human talking. A young female voice and then nothing, only whispered consonants. Curious, the leader tried to tune into the conversation, but he was too far away, but was alarmed when the voices became frantic.

One sentence in particular made his antennae perk up even more in interest.

"I need you."

Warning diodes pulsating, as quiet as possible, Prime transformed. Internally, he prayed to Primus that none of his companions would transform as well. He didn't want to disturb them, as the quiet conversation had disturbed him.

Allura had a look of hopelessness, nervousness, and shining tears holding back from spilling over. She barely noticed when the Autobot stood and came to stand outside of her window, a look of concern lighting up the room, even when the room stayed moderately dark.

"Oh, hi Optimus! Sorry to disturb you. I was just-."

"Talking with someone? Who were you talking to?"

Allura opened her mouth like she was about to speak but paused. She wiped escaping tears away with the back of her wrist. How in the world was she supposed to explain who she was talking to? What was she supposed to say? A ghost? Her dead father? Herself? Maybe that she was just sleepwalking?

"Uuuum...look, all you need to know is that I got a warning that we are about to be attacked. Zarkon and Megabot-tron are coming and coming soon."

Optimus seemed to stand up taller, his shoulder armor creaking with anticipation. "How much time do we have?"

"I-I don't know." She could see Optimus staring at her. "He didn't tell me anything. He just told me that they were going to attack. I wish I could tell you."

"It's okay. We'll be okay. My team and I are here. Go back to sleep and the whole team can prepare in the morning. I'll protect you, I promise."

Allura's shoulders lowered, a deep breath expelling from her diaphragm, probably one she had been holding without realizing. She slept better, her limp and tired body falling upon the bed like an old peach tree. Like the ones her and her father used to see outside...before the war destroyed it all.
