*Bumblebee is communicating through radio transmissions like in the movie-verse.
The outer shell started to break apart, peeling and separating into parts. Keith scrambled back, tripping back onto his hands, reduced to crab walking.
Gears and mechanical parts of metal began rotating, screeching and clicking. Large metal beams folded outward the pod becoming a large platform.
In the middle of the platform, a blue and red figure stood with his back against a metal board. Flames were painted against a blue background in a, somewhat, worn pattern. The head was tilted down, spikes piercing out the sides of a helmet-like attachment.
The face was harder to see, as half of it was covered in a metal mask. The eyes were colorless, dark gray and emotionless. It was like they were deactivated, but still left a tingling feeling slithering down Keith's spine.
Keith could hear his friends sliding down the side of the canyon. Lance appeared beside him, placing his helmet under his arm.
"I guess Haggar got into some painting classes, cause these flames look so cool."
"Yeah, she usually has bad taste in alien design." Pidge responded, just as sarcastic.
"Uuum... maybe teasing a giant robot is not a good idea, guys." Hunk warned. "What do we even do with...that?" Hunk pointed to the deactivated robot still standing motionless. It gave Keith the shivers, as its eyes seemed to peer into his soul.
"And weren't there others? Like the other metal pods?" Pidge asked, as he sat down on the metal floor. The floor felt warm, but it didn't burn, which was strange since considering that, moments earlier, it was a fireball raging through the sky.
Keith looked toward the gaping hole in the sky. It looked smaller than before, the thunderous clouds thinning out like evening fog. He caught sight of Allura standing back aways, keeping her distance from the metallic stranger.
"Stay here and near the lions until this guy wakes up, or until someone comes around to explain themselves."
The paladins gathered to start climbing up the hill back to where Allura was waiting. They silently walked back to the lions, their minds a busy mess of unanswered questions and wish-filled daydreams.
Lance slumped down into his chair, his legs hanging off the arm rests. Pidge, Keith, and Allura all went back to their respective lions, tirelessly waiting for the blue and red robot to reactivate; to reveal the secrets that lay under the silver mask and still armor.
Keith stayed outside his lion, leaning against the sturdy paws of the Black Lion. His mind couldn't, or wouldn't, quiet down, as much as he wanted it to. Concentrating on the stoic robot or the rays of concentrated sunlight that cascaded dark shadows in the trees just wasn't enough.
Not even the muffled sounds of his friends talking (probably brainstorming about who the robot was, same as him) could keep his mind from wandering.
The Voltron leader almost wished that Zarkon would appear again, just so he could get a sense that Arus was still spinning on its axis.
And that the universe had not shattered with one, seemingly, simple event.
Many moments went by before vibrations like minnie earthquakes started to shake the earth. It sounded like loud stomping, though it wasn't coming from Flames, for the machine had stayed in the same position.
"Who's shaking up the place?" Lance asked, shifting to a seated position in his chair. He twisted his neck to either side, making popping and cracking sounds.
"Maybe it's Hunk." Pidge remarked.
"Hey!" Hunk responded, only slightly affected.
"What do we do Keith? There are two of them now." Allura still seemed worried, which Keith understood. There was no way of knowing if these beings were friends or some evil trick sent by Lotor.
The stomping grew louder, which didn't help the concerned vibe that flowed through the lions.
"Stay in your lions and be on alert. Do not attack! And do not form Voltron until we know that they're a threat!" Keith commanded. He jumped over the ledge of his lion's lower jaw, using the energy to propel himself to his seat.
They watched as a blur of color appeared; a bright yellow and black. Another robot. This one was smaller than the deactivated one still standing still in his pod. Keith didn't get a good look at it as it turned its face away, more concerned with its friend.
"Hey, I'm picking up radio signals." Pidge exclaimed, tapping on glowing screens in front of him.
"Same!" Allura responded.
"Me three!" Hunk chanted.
"Me four! Broadcasting now!" The radio signals sounded like dialogue, sections of audio cut and edited together to form sentences.
"Come on! Wake up, dammit!" Keith watched (and listened) as the yellow robot shook the other, trying to have him regain consciousness. The blue bot did not move, its body hitting the metal board again.
The blur of yellow continued to scurry around the platform, before stomping on a pressure plate.
A part of the floor let out a hiss, before lowering and sliding underneath the floor panels. A block of metal appeared, the top slanted at an angle. A futuristic screen appeared above it flickering off and on before clearing.
"Vitals are good. That's fabulous! Now I just have to wake your stubborn self up." He typed away at the, seemingly, invisible keyboard.
"I'm surprised he hasn't noticed us yet." Lance half whispered.
"I think he is concerned about his friend. I mean, he hasn't moved at all." Allura responded, sounding slightly concerned. Keith hummed in thought, as he watched the bot's mood slowly change as he typed away at the keyboard.
"Well we can't just sit around here." Hunk must have spoken too loud, because the yellow bot's big, metallic eyes shot up. The armor on his left arm twisted and turned, his hand retracting backwards revealing a futuristic cannon.
