Lucy's POV:
It has been days since Steven, and me and Tom first got together. It's nice to have someone who loves you and appreciates you as much as Tom does. Something has been on my mind, haunting me. Steven. I enjoyed pushing him, why does it make me feel this way? Guilty? Ashamed? No, I'm fine, absolutely fine. I can't tell the others, though. I don't know what they'd think of me. "Alright, we are running out of wood to burn, and while it's daylight, it's the right time to go," states Tom, standing up while picking up his axe. "I'll come with," replied Jace. "No, I need you to stay here and protect Lucy while I'm gone, I'll be a few moments." Tom blew me a kiss and was off. I started to blush, and Jace nudged me in a playful and teasing manner. He'd been gone a good 10 minutes before we heard shouting and yelling coming down the street. We looked over the rooftop to see a gang, a gang of kids from our school. They were a notorious gang back in school, but now they have weapons. "Fuck, what if they see us?" I asked. "They won't stay quiet and they won't find us" responded Jace, panic in his voice. We moved slowly from the edge of the roof, I slipped and accidentally knocked over Tom's (now my) copper pipe, the clang echoed for miles. The gang stopped and looked up to the roof, spotting us. They stormed the roof with bats and branched, grabbing us and pulling us down. "Get the fuck off us!" Jace shouted. "Shut up! You're lucky we haven't killed you already!" Shouted one of the gang members. I looked up to the rooftop where we were just taken from and I see movement.
Huh? Movement? Who would be up there? One of the gangsters threw me to the floor. "Ah," I screamed in pain. "Tom!" Screamed Jace. "He's not gonna help you!" Said another gangster. "He's not coming back!" Said another. A piercing scream of pain came from behind us. We all spun around in shock. A gangster fell to the floor, blood was pouring from his head. He dropped to the floor, Tom stood there blood dripping from his axe. "Let. Them. Go" he said, glaring at the gangster holding me. "Or what?" Replied the gangster. "Well, I tried." Tom ran at one swinging his axe killing another. The gangsters let me and Jace go as they ran to face Tom. "Here!" Tom yelled over the gangsters, he ran to us passing me the copper pipe and passing Jace the scissors. "Protect Lucy". Tom ran back swinging and killing more, blood sprayed over him. A few gangsters came to confront us, Jace stabbed one with his scissors and I hit one with my pipe. A gangster stabbed Tom in his right arm forcing him to drop the axe. "Tom!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. Tom punched one, ran to a gangster's corpse, picked up a knife and continued. Minutes passed, and the blood bath ended.
Tom stabbed the final gangster in the neck, kicked the body off the blade, and looked around at what we had done, trying to catch his breath. "Is everyone ok?" Asked Tom. "I think so," I replied. "Only a few mental scars for life, but besides that, I'm good!" Replied Jace, sarcasm in his voice. "We need to move. Our base is too obvious, and we can't afford for this to happen again," stated Tom. He moved to pick up his axe, hugged me, and we began to pack our things to move. It felt like a whole lifetime was spent walking, but we found a small area to call home for the night. Tom turned to us "I'm going to get supplies, stay here and protect Lucy." I stare at him. "I can look after myself you know." I laugh at myself "You can't even fight."
At this point, I'm holding Jace back, a blood-thirsty look of pure rage in his eyes.
"I'm older than you Tom, I can take care of myself," I mumble, slightly pissed off. I'm not a fucking trophy, I know how to fight. "You can't fight for shit," he says back. I'm glaring at him now "Yes I do!" He laughs. "You can't fight Lucy. You're too skittish." What. The. Fuck. "I'm not skittish. I'm a pacifist." I bite back. I'm not tolerating this anymore. "Really?" He teases. That did it. "Yeah, really Thomas fucks sake what am I!? I'm not a fucking doll! I can take care of myself!" I shout. He throws me against a tree "BECAUSE NOBODY WAS THERE FOR YOU. YOU'RE FUCKING NOTHING WITHOUT ME. IF I DIDN'T SAVE YOUR ASSES BACK THERE YOU'D BE DEAD. YOU SHOULD BE LUCKY IM DOING THIS LUCY. THIS IS WHY YOUR PARENTS DON'T FUCKING LIKE YOU." He shouts. The whole world goes quiet. I can feel tears in my eyes, I don't even dare to even look away from him, I want him to see what he did to me. His eyes widen, he tries to recollect himself and lets out a shaky breath. "Luce... I-" he gets cut off. Jace broke free of my grip and now has uppercutted Tom. "Don't EVER speak to Lucy that way!!" He yells, throwing Tom against a wall, and winding him from the force. I stand there in shock, a smile slowly creeping onto my face. Tom hits Jay in the nose, but that doesn't stop him. Jace hits back harder, in the nose. Silence fills the forest as he swings. Crack. Blood pours out of his nose like running water. Tom staggers back, fear carved into his face. "Wha.. what the fuck is wrong with you?!" He shouts, anger and fear spilling like blood. Jay kicks Tom in between his legs, making him fall to his knees. "I'm a mama's boy. That's what." He hissed, spitting blood at Tom's mutilated face.
