Lucy's POV:
Tom lay in my arms, whimpering here and there from nightmares. I sigh as I stroke his hair and whisper soothing things to help him calm down. At least a little. See, he's been paranoid for as long as I've met him, but this apocalypse isn't helping his case. My heart flutters as he cuddles me. Maybe I still do feel something towards him. "You still like him, eh mama?" Jay questions me as he looks at me groggily, still half asleep. I smile. "Just a bit.." Jace stares at me. "Don't take the piss." He smiles, but visibly gets grossed out by Tom. I sigh, Jay's got me backed into a corner. I have to admit it now. "okay. Maybe a lot." I mumble, but I think Tom heard me. He smiles in his sleep and mumbles how much he loves me. Heat rises to my face and Jay mocks it. I'll let it slide. "Anyways, swap shifts Mama, I'll take care of... that" Jace makes a face of disgust as I pass him Tom. I can tell Jay still really doesn't like him. I smile and lay down to sleep.
I wake up to constant tapping and turn around to see Tom at my side furiously shaking me. "What?" I mumble. He stares at me. "Zombies. Loads of them," he says. leaning over me and grabbing the copper pole. I roll my eyes. "Where's your axe, genius?" I ask, now being defenseless. He nervously laughs. "Dropped it when we reunited..." I roll my eyes again. "What a smart move, Tom!" Great, now I'm defenseless and stuck with him... I mean, I sure as hell not complaining, but I feel like a fucking princess who needs saving.
A scream is heard, and Jace and I spin around, ready to attack. The scream came from... Tom..? We're confused as we've never heard him scream like that, or scream.. ever. "Tom, what's the matter?!" I shout, Jace spins around with his mini chainsaw in hand. "Was you bitten?!" He shouts. Tom drops the pole and we glance over. Jace bursts out laughing. I peer over assuming the worst... I inhale, prepared to get grossed out, then I pause. "it... it's a spider," I say, letting out a small breath. Tom clings to me, his hands wrapped around me like a little five-year-old boy. "Tommy, it's a small spider it won't hurt you," I say, Jay mocks Tom. The spider crawls out more and my heart melts. "It's so cute!" I say, adoringly, and it was. It was a small fuzzy spider, and honestly, I needed to see something cute today. Tom kicks the pole with a whimper and the spider is missing. Jay goes ballistic at him, he always had a thing for spiders, Tom.. not so much apparently? I realize. "Well done, genius," I turn to Tom, a look of disappointment and a look of holding in laughter on my face. Tom flushes red. "What?!" I snicker slightly. "You kicked away your weapon."
Tom pauses and panics, honestly I think Jace was enjoying this! We never realized but the zombies slowly enclosed us, and I muster up the courage to run to the zombies. Directly at them. "Lucy what the fuck?!" Tom shouts, Jace, rearing the chainsaw up ready for round two, but I don't focus on that. I'm probably the most nimble out of the three, and the fastest as I am not the tallest alive. I kick up the pole as I run and catch it, switching it to my offhand and hitting the zombies within my range in one hit. Blood sprays over me, and they collapse to the ground. I don't even look back to them, I just spit and push my hair away ready to keep fighting. I hear Jace cheering me on as he runs to my aid as there were too many for one person to take on. He stands beside me and gives me a little squeeze on the arm which I return swiftly. Jace swings the chainsaw at them while making sarcastic remarks to not only the zombies but at Tom too, but all he does is shout "Fuck you!" or mention how good I'm doing. I don't need his validation but boy, did it feel good. All the zombies within less than five minutes are now on the ground bleeding out and we turn back to Tom and walk over to him. "Is the baby okay?" Jay teases the now sitting down Tom, and I just smile, handing him the pole. "No spiders are in there," I say with a laugh and he gives me a look before yanking me down by my shirt and kissing me. I kiss back and it feels like the world has stopped yet again Heaven was back, Tom was back and so was my happiness. We pull away. "I'm sorry, please forgive me," he says, a crack in his voice and I kiss him again, softer this time. "I already forgave you," I return, kneeling before him and hugging him. He hugs back and talks about how much he loves me and I return every word he says.
