I didn't ask to be invited to this special dinner. Unfortunately, Dovey insisted I attend. Said it would look, and I quote 'exceptional for the School for Evil'. What I don't think she understands is that A: I don't want to go, and B: Evil don't want to look exceptional.
I told her no, and then she did that thing where she gets really frustrated and gets kind of scary. Then the yelling starts, and I just stare at her in my usual perplexed state. In that moment, though, I always think she could be a Never. So, in my seconds of unusual weakness, I said yes. Indirectly, that is.
She then asked me to dine 'gracefully' (whatever that means) and maybe even attempt to have a conversation. That will definitely not be happening. And then she did something particularly curious. She told me Lesso would be attending.
As if she matters to me. I mean, I talk to Leonora often and have grown quite font of her, but her presence wouldn't change my mind regardless...
Well, now I'm just lying to myself.
So here I am, pulling on the only dress I own, which turns out to be a black thigh-high dress. It's also extremely fitting as it was tailor-made. Dovey is going to kill me... I look like a stripper for hire.
Reluctantly, I walk into the dining hall - which is empty of students and instead filled with....oh god. Kings. Queens. Princes. Princesses. I'm gagging.
The conversations continue (thankfully) as I take a seat next to the red head. She looks bored out of her mind, but at my arrival, I see her mischievous glint ignite yet again.I say nothing and lean back slightly, scanning the Villain's side of the room. How is it so civilised? The headmaster probably gave them a very stern warning beforehand. The good and evil in the room are proportionally unequal I note- good outdoing evil. As usual.
"Why are you glaring at me?" I question my red-headed counterpart.
"I'm hoping you'll spontaneously combust. It'd make quite the sight." She replies, a smug smirk plastered across her unusually pretty face. I'm definitely gay. And Dovey was definitely right, Lesso is the deciding factor to everything.
I hum, eyes still filtering through the room. "If you think I'd ever want to entertain you, you will find yourself quite mistaken. Plus, I quite like my body whole."
She grins at this, and it's beautiful. "Oh really? I can think of other ways you could entertain me through this dull dinner." Her hand makes its way to my thigh.
"Hmm. You're being quite inappropriate, Leonora."
"Aww. Does that bother you, my darl-"
"If you two don't shut up and act civilised in the next three seconds, I will make your lives hell!" Dovey interjects in her whisper voice. This means everyone can still probably hear her anyway. Her face is going slightly red, too, so not to cause a scene, I apologize.
"Yes ma'am, sorry ma'am." I reply a little sarcastically. Lesso's hand moves further up my thigh, pushing the cloth of my dress further. Her nails tap on my leg. It's quite soothing actually - as well as extremely frustrating, that is.
Clarissa turns and smiles at me before glaring at Lesso, who mumbles something and looks away, poking at her food with her fork.
"I don't think I heard you Lesso, do I make myself clear?" The blonde repeats.
"Yes, ma'am." She huffs, clearly not meaning it. Dovey, however, takes it as a win.
"Good." And with that, she skips off (because walking doesn't cut it), resuming her previous conversation.
By the end of the night, I'm surprised Lesso is still sober. We were told off a total of three more times about our bickering, and as I was leaving, Lesso decided it would be a good time to make me even more hot and bothered than usual.
She snuck up on me from behind and gripped my waist - digging her nails into my flesh. It's sure to leave bruises. I remain stoic, used to her teasing and sudden touch. She presses my back against her front and (since she's several inches taller than me) leaned down to whisper in my ear.
"You know Miss L/N, I've been wanting to tell you how good you look in that dress all night." She says as she pulls me closer to her. I go to speak, but she beats me to it. "But, it would look much better on my floor." Her voice rasped in my ear. My heart rate increased drastically, and I held my breath.
And with that, she stalked off down the corridor as I tried not to let my legs give way.
I'll never get used to this side of our bickering.
