The week passed slowly and I caught not even a glimpse of the unruly red hair. Her absence casted a melancholy attitude to my day, and the people involved. Luckily, the students soon left for the holidays, none spending their time here. Most of the staff also left - traveling to the families they haven't seen in so long.
Clarissa proposes an idea to the few of us left, capture the flag with a mix of snowball fighting. I almost groaned at the idea of venturing from the safety of my warm room or the idyllic library - the scent of books and ink my dateless safety blanket. I still agreed regardless, Clarissa's happiness is a task of utmost importance.
I yet again had to dig in the depths of my over rammed wardrobe for some warm garments. I find the long sleeved white shirt I wear all the time - small dots of ink adorning the sleeves. Somewhere in the endless cavern of fabrics I find some wide leg, beige dresspants and a beige knit v-neck vest top. My signature gold again adorns my hands as I sweep a jacket from the door.
I trudge through the snow, delicate flakes resting on my clothes like ants a tree. I close my eyes for a second, relishing in the fact I'm not yet too freezing to function.
Hands squeeze my waist slightly as she brushes by. Ignoring me all week and that's the first interaction she can think of? I trail after her and a few other teachers, again admiring the way her hair juxtaposes the winter wonderland.
Clarissa splits us into groups and gives us five minutes to come up with a team strategy. Lesso takes her place beside me as we speak to Pollux and Espada. She's very clearly outnumbered by Evers. A scowl slinks across her pretty mouth, she catches me staring. The corners of her lips lift slightly. Warmth floods through my body at the sight.
Me and Lesso are stuck in the back, Pollux and Espada adamant on being ahead. I comply, not ready to be separated from the red head. The game starts and we stay situated by our flag, snowballs ready. I shiver as the snow turns to mush in my hands. Lesso observes me with interest.
"What?" I snap impatiently, the cold getting to me now.
"Want to go indoors princess?" She muses as if I'm some sort of joke. Merely entertainment.
"I'm not a princess, Lady Lesso." I huff, air condensing in my face. She sighs and grabs my wrist, dragging me through the trees and to the School for Good. Once inside she takes my coat and we walk silently to my classroom.
She places the coats on the back of my unused desk chair as I clear up the clutter students left behind. I stand on my desk to reach the top of the blackboard, cleaning away the chalk. A hand grabs my waist gently. I hop down to the floor and take a seat on the edge of the desk. Just like earlier this week.
Her eyes lock onto mine like before, this time the ocean in her eyes is calm, smooth ripples on the surface. Her hand again makes its way to my face. I lean into her touch, showing her I want this too. "You know we're forbidden, right?" She questions, almost unsure of herself.
"Who cares." I whisper back, connecting my lips to hers. She lifts me gently from the desk and sits herself in my chair. It's my new favourite chair, I'm going to use it all the time. I straddle her waist as she kisses me softly, lips moving like water against mine.
I smile, only pulling away when I'm finally out of breath.
"That was nice." I blush.
"That was overdue." She winks.
