"One more thing Agent Y/N, you will be accompanied by another agent in your mission."

"Yes sir." Great. One more brat I have to keep alive on this stupid reconnaissance mission. If you can even call it that.

"Agent L/N, this is Agent Broughton." He introduces.

"We've met." She almost growls out. Her hair is shorter than the last time we spoke, but her signature blonde remains the same. Her blue eyes - cut like daggers. I go to shake her hand and she grips firmly, to the point I think she's trying to break bones. I let no emotion flicker on my face or in my eyes.

"Your plane leaves in an hour. I expect the best from my top MI6 agents." He scolds us as if we are children. Reprimanding us for our sins. Maybe it's because of our previous scuffle in Germany when I caught her fucking a girl named Delphine. I'm not saying she deserved to die but maybe Lorraine should've thought more about her enemies.

Or maybe I was a little jealous.

I thank the old man I'm unfortunate enough to call my boss and leave the room. I grab my sniper and pack it into my suitcase.

We land in Iraq quicker than expected, and sign into a shammy hotel that will have no record of Mrs Johansson and Mrs Smith. No one remembers a married woman - they aren't available enough for sex. We pay in cash for a two day stay.

A knock sound on my door the next morning.

"What do you want Broughton." I snap, not looking away from my sniper - which is shiny enough to blind someone.

"I've found them." She inquires. The target is less than a block away and we find him quickly. He stands in a shaded corner with a shorter, white man. Lorraine scouts out the area as I set up my sniper in an empty window with the most available shot. She taps me on the back. "The coast is clear. I'm going in."

"Hey, Broughton."

"What." She growls impatiently, stabbing me with her harsh glare and judgemental stance.

"Be careful. And don't do anything stupid." She looks slightly taken back by my comment of concern but brushes it off quickly and makes contact with our target. I follow her figure the whole time. Gunshots start ringing and she follows him into the building. "Shit." I haul the gun back into my bag and pull out my sidearm. The building is eerily quiet for a battlefield - especially since Lorraine followed him here. She doesn't really do quiet. The white guy lies on the abandoned staircase, bullet holes in his temple and heart. I kick him out of the way and continue up.

I find Lorraine's backup gun discarded on the floor with a full magazine. Strange. The noiseless atmosphere doesn't change as I check every room. The feeling of death in my gut grows by the minute. I can feel the panic rising in my throat. Lorraine could be dead. I reach the last floor and the door remains open, creaking in the hot wind. I round the corner swiftly, checking both sides. The target is lying on his side - blood oozing from his head. Splinters stick out in different directions but still no sign of Broughton.

I walk through the doorway to the adjoining room cautiously and a metal pole swings at my head. I duck swiftly and catch the person's arm. "Lorraine it's me!" She drops the metal and collapses into my arms. I tuck her sidearm into the back of her jeans and quickly embrace her back. She really gave me the fright of my life and tried to kill me.

"I don't think a person is supposed to bleed this much." She whispers into my ear, breath tickling my neck. I push her back carefully to assess the wound I so stupidly missed. She looks paler than usual, her porcelain skin a ghostly white.

She wobbles and clutches her head as I set her down on a chair. A mild concussion I assume. Her grey t-shirt is stained red and when I lift it, blood smears around her hip. I make quick work of sterilising the cut and cleaning her up. "I thought I told you not to do anything stupid?" I scold.

"Shush."

"Why?" I mock, shooting her a slight smirk. Her face contorts into pain as I finish stitching her up. I apologize quickly.

"Because I'm starting to like your voice a little too much...partner." She remarks, shooting me the same goofy smirk. I can't help but look at her eyes, pools of blue that stare into mine expectantly.

"Partner? I like the sound of that."
