➥ elaine; milkshake

I sit in the little cafe Richard picked so he could discuss business without the 'prying' and 'interuptions' or the other members of staff. Elaine slides into the booth beside me, both of us facing Richard. She insisted I come and although I can see the displeasure it causes the man in front of me, her wish is my command.

"Would you like to order?" The waitress comes across, checkered cloth thrown over her shoulder. Richard's eyes are so murderous I step in before he slits the throat of this innocent woman.

"Yes, one coffee with two sugars and an extra large vanilla milkshake." I smile sweetly, she writes them both down, the eyelashes to her brown doe eyes fluttering.

"I'll get that straight out to you." I smile and look back at Richard who now looks like he want to kill me and not the waitress. I roll my eyes and settle back into my seat, the window being my leaning post.

"You ordered two drinks when there's three of us. Are you fucking stupid?" He spits as if I don't work for the co-owner of his company.

"The coffee is for you so you can sweeten up a little, and the milkshake is for our darling Elaine." I continue. If I deperately wanted something to drink I would have ordered one. He clenches his jaw and turns to Elaine, settling back into conversation about expanding the company and its next steps.

I pull out my phone and click on Plants Vs Zombies 2. Level after level is completed and I start to get bored. My boss seems to notice and offers me some of the milkshake. I take a sip and return to minding my own business, her hand gliding across my thigh.

I feel heat rising to my face and I hide behind my hair, hoping to focus on the pea shooters on my screen. She seems to notice my silence as she slides her hand further up my leg, mischievous smirk slinking onto her lips.

My breath hitches and Rusk shoots me a look of annoyance . I attempt to cover the sound with a cough and avoid the CEO's glare.

The pair finally decide to wrap up their intense debate when I'm playing Subway Surfers, Rusk's coffee finished and Elaine's milkshake still half full. He slaps down the money for the drinks and storms out of the cafe, eyes of customers following his path. A mix of amusement and distaste are sent towards the man and I can't say I'm surprised.

"What on earth was that about?" I question. Markinson looks up at me, eyes wandering over my face.

"Not sure, he's just temperamental?" She attempts. I laugh and take another sip of the milkshake that somehow vacated closer to me during their arguing. "Thank you for coming along today."

"Not a problem." I reply, distracted yet again by Subway Surfers. Jake jumps from train to train until my phone is taken from my hands. Elaine holds it mid air, but paused. At least I know she has some decency to not kill me.

"Finish the milkshake and you can have it back." She muses, meticulous smirk on her lips. I grab the drink frustrated, rolling my eyes as she continues with the game she stole from me. I swallow the last mouthful and turn to her, her hand still placed on my thigh.

"Done. Can I have it back now?"

"Oh, I kind of wanted some." She frowns, but the look in her eye tells me she's plotting something, "Guess I'll have to do this." She finishes, pressing her lips to mine. I freeze momentarily before relaxing into her lips, her tongue sliding along them. My hands cup her face as the one she settled on my thigh slides into my hair. For some reason her other hand never touches me. She pulls away, looking at my phone with a little smile.

"Elaine." I mutter wordless.

"Here." She hands me my phone back before standing with her bag. I stay sat, momentarily speechless and stunned. "I'll see you tomorrow." She says leaving. I look down at the time only to find my lock screen changed.

Her lips are pressed against mine and my hands are cupping her face, the hand that mysteriously disappeared outstretched to take a photo. Her blonde hair looks perfectly curled. I can't believe this woman.

I put my head in my hands, the taste of Elaine Markinson and vanilla milkshake in my mouth. What on earth did I get myself into?
