You cowered away, a little frightened from his shouting.
"I'm sorry!" You whisper-shouted back and began to walk quickly with your luggage in tow. Tears slipped out and even though, you willed yourself not to be so weak, you still cried.---
Steven was caught off guard by your touch and raced after you, still trying to calm down. He stayed silent while running to the warp pad room. When you both were now standing in front of the gem pad, he tried to speak.
"Y/n... Please-" He was interrupted.
"No, no, Steven it's ok. I understand why you're angry, I would be too." You sighed and rubbed at your arms. You kept your back to him and stepped onto the pad."Can we just go?" You quietly said, looking down at your feet. Steven nodded, then quickly agreed and walked on the gem pad. He inched his hand towards yours and pulled back, nervous. With no hesitation, you grabbed it tightly and nodded. Steven's heart skipped a beat and he smiled. With no other words spoken, they teleported back to Earth.
---
You haven't been to Earth in a couple hundred years so, it was quite a shock to see the beach and different shops, people all at your hometown, Beach City. You were never popular in school or college but you liked to observe, it was crazy seeing someone who looked quite like an ancestor of theirs that you knew. People in Beach City never moved away, so it made sense they just stayed and continued generations of children. You were barely off the gem pad before being bubbled in Steven's familiar pink shade. There was muffled shouting and you could see some gems at high guard, pointing their weapons at you and Steven.
"Guys! It's ok, it's just me, don't you remember me?" Steven pleaded, putting his hands out as a peace keeper.
"WHO THE HELL IS THIS CHICK??" A short purple one screamed out, her voice cracking. She reminded you of Carmen, sadly.
Steven laughed awkwardly and looked to you, as if unsure of what to call you.
"I'm Y/n." You answered for him.
"She's... my...p-pearl?" He shrugged, not really knowing what your status was now that they were both kicked out of court.
A tall, reddish gem frowned and put her giant fists away. "Let him talk, if he hasn't damaged this pearl then he's not gone far." She stated. She seemed to be the leader, you thought.
Steven sighed relieved, and popped your bubble. Dropping to the ground on your ass, you groaned.
"Steven, not a good idea since I was almost killed by that insane woman." You reminded him. Steven's eyes widened and he rushed to you, helping you up.
"Ah, I'm sorry." He said gently. The skinny white pearl stepped forward, her spear still out and it brought you back to seeing the yellow lookalike weapon that caused you the worst agony you've ever felt, with the memories from not long ago racing in your head, you began to feel your throat closing and the room becoming smaller and smaller. Hyperventilating, you clutched on to Steven's arms, hoping for some sort of stability. Everyone had their eyes on you, and it only made it worse.
---
Steven could see something was wrong especially when Y/n's eyes turned wide with horror, she was having an anxiety attack, Steven has had a couple of those and he knew that having everyone stare at her like an alien was not helping. Scooping her up into his arms, he ran to his old room, on the loft. Gently putting her on the bed, he whispered quietly to her, "Everything is alright, Y/n, you're here, on Earth, it's okay."The worst part was, she began to cry. Steven had seen her cry in agony and sadness but never this hard. She was wailing, pressing her hands into her face to muffle the sound. He could only rub circles on her back to provide some sort of comfort.
~
You stiffly sat up, realizing you had been drooling on the pillow. Rubbing your eyes, that were puffy and dry, you looked out the window. Beach City had never looked so pretty, so comfy. You yawned, it was night time now, the moon shining high in the sky. With a grumbling stomach, you stumbled out of the bed and now just realized Steven was there, snoring and dead asleep. Thinking, I've got to keep quiet , You tiptoed down the stairs and opened the fridge. Your mind began to wander.
Was this Steven's childhood home? Is that why those gems seemed to know him? But why were they so hostile? It could've been because of me, but, I doubt it, I'm just a hybrid human.
Something nudged my shoulder. I jumped, covering my mouth to stop my shout of surprise.
"Yo. Looks like someone's spacing out in front of the fridge." The short one looked up at me, seeming to be eating a tub of cream cheese.
"Oh, yes, A little bit. I just came down to eat something..." You trailed off as she grabbed a handful of the cream cheese and shoved it in her mouth. She spoke, muffled with cream cheese.
"Oh yeah, we have some sandwiches if you want it." She offered, turned, then turned back to you.
"Name?"You raised an eyebrow before having an expression of 'oh'
"Y/n, you?"
"Amethyst. Welcome back to Earth." She yawned and walked off with the tub of cheese.
You turned to the fridge and grabbed a sandwich from a platter of them. Maybe this won't be so bad._____
