"Why...? Doctor Lee, why did my little girl die...? Could– Could someone really die from a mere case of anemia?"

The father of the now deceased girl uttered through his tears, balling his hands into fists so that his nails could dig into his palms. Compared to the mental destruction inside him, any physical pain was fruitless. Part of the father wanted to rip the doctor to shreds; he said there would be time for his lovely daughter. But, in the end, no matter what his complaints are, what he wanted to hear or see, they're all useless here. Jang Wonyoung was dead, and he knew deep down that there was nothing he or his wife could do to bring her back.

"I won't know...until I examine her in detail. It appeared as though it was simply anemia. Even if that wasn't the case, it looked like we could at least afford to wait until the results of the blood test came back."

Dohyun could only offer a grim expression. The last time he made a serious mistake like this was back in his first year at medical school. However, it was his grades that cost him, but none of that required a precious sacrifice. He understood if the man wanted to hit him, punch him, or even kill him. The doctor knew he had greatly messed up and would gladly accept anything the married couple wanted to do to him.

"Actually, I'm the one who's shocked the most..."

It was only a whisper, but you heard him clearly through his gritted teeth. You wanted to reassure your uncle that none of this was his fault because it really wasn't. None of you knew that a mere case of anemia could be so fatal for the girl, which makes you question the fatality of life even more. A few hours ago, Wonyoung was alive and healthy, yet she suddenly developed a case of anemia and died? You've already asked this before, but...what in the hell is going on here? None of this made any sense to you or your uncle.

"What would you like to do, sir? If possible, I'd like to suggest a pathological autopsy...in order to determine the cause of death in detail."

"NO WAY!"

A fist makes its way to the wall, the force alone is strong enough to leave a slight dent on the plaster. It looked like the father was going to tackle the young man next; therefore, you got in front of the man while his wife held him back, her hand against his clothed chest.

"Honey, please... Not in front of Wonyoung..."

The mother was beyond devastated, destroyed by what she witnessed. However, she was rational enough to spare the doctor. None of this was his fault and besides you were the one that found their daughter and saved her from having to stay in the dark, cold forest any longer. She just wanted her daughter to rest in peace.

"I'm sorry... But we can't allow the autopsy."

"She's just a young girl... Please leave her alone now..."

Despite having already resigned yourself to the fact that there's nothing you can do here but wait and expect anything else–anything worse to happen–there had to be something. Yet, the results of the blood test were still not ready, and your patience was beginning to run thin. Even though you weren't particularly close to the girl, you couldn't help but feel so hesitant. How will Yujin react to all of this? She's probably taking it worse considering this was her childhood friend and her current best friend. Even when the uncertainty starts to have its sway on you, all you could do now was wait for the official declaration.
