"Carina you're an idiot." Carina whispered to herself, wiping her tears away. Grabbing her purse from the table hastily she exited the room. She looked left and right trying to spot Maya. Where did she go? Carina thought in panic. She was still in shock of what had just transpired in that room. At one moment everything was perfect, and in the next everything went to the gutter, ironically enough thanks to her own stupidity. How the hell could I do that, and think that wouldn't hurt her. Idiot she cussed mentally.

Carina rummaged through her purse searching for her phone. Unlocking it, she dialed Maya's number, but it sent her straight to voicemail. Groaning in frustration, she went outside, and looked around through the sea of people, but she was nowhere to be seen. She sent a couple of texts to Maya, apologizing and asking her to talk. Nothing. She tried calling her again. Nothing. She was sure Maya wouldn’t go back to their dorm. She decided to just look for her friends but she felt completely helpless trying to find them because of the amount of people outside.

She felt tears prickling at the back of her eyes again. She bit her lip hard trying to compose herself. She didn't want anyone to see her in this state of mind. She went to run her hands through her hair loosely curled hair. She got ready for this night with so much care, wanting to leave Maya speechless when she see her. She wanted to do something nice for Maya, to show her she cared, but in the end she managed to ruin everything somehow. "Idiot." she muttered to herself again.

This was one of the rare moments in life when Carina felt completely helpless. She went back inside the halls of the building again, she slumped her back against the wall, closing her eyes, the warmth of Maya's lips and her comforting smell still lingering on her skin. Dull ache in her chest only intensified, causing her to clench fists in despair. Digging her nails in her palms, and gritting her teeth hard, she didn't manage to keep the tears at bay. Streaming freely down her cheeks, Carina thought of Maya's words. Was she about to tell me she...loved me? Carina asked herself, the realization of the magnitude of the damage she caused, elicited a heart-wrenching sob from her throat. Biting her knuckles to avert the emotional pain, she pushed away from the wall and ran towards the exit again, her footsteps thumping on the polished floor.

Not paying attention to her surroundings, she collided with someone on her way out. Steadying her by her shoulders, the guy was about to apologize until he noticed who he collided with.

"You." Jack spat, increasing his grip on Carina's shoulders.

Carina wiped her tears quickly, trying to wriggle from his grasp. "Let me go."

"No. What did you do to her?" Jack hissed at Carina, his jaw clenched in anger.

"What are you talking about?"

"Maya."

"You've seen her? Where is she?" Carina asked, meeting Jack's eyes, hope resonating in her voice. She looked over his shoulder, as if expecting to see Maya.

"Even if I did I would never tell you." Jack seethed as he pushed her back inside. "Now tell me what did you do to her?" he raised his voice menacingly, his eyes sparkling with anger.

"I...I didn't mean to." Carina said quietly, averting her gaze from Jack's cold eyes. "Did you see her Jack?" she almost pleaded with him.

Releasing his grip on Carina, Jack took a step back, and ran his fingers through his short hair. "I didn't talk to her. I just saw her running out. I tried running after her but she was gone."

"I have to find her." Carina moved to pass Jack but he stopped her again.

"No. Leave her alone. I told her you'd end up hurting her, but she didn't listen." he shook his head in disappointment and anger.
