- I can see it! I can see it finally! – Sarah sighed while she was leaning out from the carriage that took us to Palace Shreddenwood. Main Palace of the Clan of Heaven Seers.

- I don't know what's your problem, it was only a journey of three days – Tyler wore his devil grin as he glanced at Sarah.

- You mean three days of hell with you, right? – she sighed once again. I wondered if sighing was her hobby or something. We really weren't that bad.

- I'm more concerned about this month of hell with the Seers – Damien sighed too. Was this a sighing party? Tyler, who was sitting beside me, grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

- We're gonna make a lot of trouble, yeah? – he smiled at me.

- You can bet on it – I whispered back. I already sensed our teacher's disapproval glances at us. He knew very well what was going to be happening there. He was against bringing me and Tyler at the same time to the Heaven Seers. But what could he do? The Clans taught the children based on their abilities, not their age. This meant that even if I was two years younger than Tyler, not to mention I was a girl... I still got to study in the same class as him.

I was the only girl in class at the Palace of Rocks. I was ready to be the only girl in class at the Palace of Shreddenwood too.

Sarah, who was sitting beside me, sighed again. She had known me and Tyler since we arrived to the Palace of Rocks. The Grandmaster of the Palace, Heik from the Clan of Silver Miners, was the one who brought us to the Palace. He had a strange habit of collecting street kids and trying to mold them into socially acceptable human beings. With more or less success. Me and Ty were the less success, if it hadn't got clear by now.

- How much time 'till we arrive to the Palace? – Raynold asked. He was sitting beside the teacher, of course he was, Raynold was meant to be the best student along us. Beside him, Damien could hardly sit tight until we were finally out from that overcrowded carriage. Beside me Sarah was impatiently waiting too. These three days we constantly spent together... she really didn't take it well.

- Be patient. Couldn't take more than thirty minutes – the teacher answered. And sighed. I suppose he was happy that he got rid of us. I didn't blame him, we never took easy on him.

Now you may ask why we were heading from one Palace to another. And why this meant our teacher got rid of us. Easy question. When in each Clan, at least five students reached the point of their Choosing, they were tested first, then they were sent to the Heaven Seers. Why? For a whole month of studying, hardening their souls and bodies... then to make their official Choosing. Me, Tyler, Sarah, Damien and Raynold all reached the point when we could perform the Choosing. I was seventeen, Ty and Damien were nineteen, Sarah was eighteen, and Raynold was seventeen as well. Though me and Ty behaved like five years old children and Raynold was like a seventy years old man.

- Please, for every gods' sake, behave yourselves – the teacher only dared to murmur this as we were closer and closer to the Palace. I supposed me and Ty left permanent damage in his soul over the years.

Tyler was brought to the Palace when he was twelve – I was already there for two years by then. And I was already a daredevil... but Ty was like a catalyst for all my troublemaking. We matched perfectly, always had the worst ideas and always messed everything up. Before Ty came, Sarah was my best friend and greatest helper. She was born into the Clan, a real blue-blood. And she often made clear how different the two of us were in social status. Even if she didn't mean it... she made it clear. Then Ty came and he was the same street kid as me... but he was never ashamed by this fact. He taught me so much that I constantly felt owed by him, so... I followed him everywhere. And his path mostly led to trouble.
