As I hear my name, I turn around to face the stranger approaching me. The atmosphere in the room gives him a scary look. In other circumstances, I wouldn't be afraid but without my weapons, I'm only 55 kg soaking wet. I know how to fight, but judging by his muscles, he must train much harder than me. You need to be realistic sometimes, I got no chance on this one. He's now standing in front of me and scrutinizing me from head to toe.
"Can I help you?" I say, gripping my glass.
"Marcus didn't mention me I see," he says dryly. My face must show confusion because he continues, "I'm David, the Devil's boss." I almost spit my champagne all over him, I lost all circulation in my body and looked at him attentively. I'm fucked. "Apparently you caused a massacre at one of my warehouses recently. Don't worry I'm not one to hold grudges."
I don't know what to say to this comment. I definitely don't believe him for a second, in this life, it's all about the grudges people holds. I'm trying to take it all in, but I can't help but freeze. Why did he come to talk to me? Why Cole is taking so long to talk to Steven? As if my prayers were heard, Cole reappears behind David with Steven. "David," Cole says as he goes in front of me.
"Cole James," David replies.
"What are you doing here?" Cole spits.
"Oh, you know, getting to know this wonderful woman, more and more."
"You can leave now."
"But I wasn't finished."
"I believe you were." Cole interrupts.
David gives me one last look, and before joining the rest of his gang, he says to me: "You'll soon be mine, querida mía. " Chills run through my body, and several questions go through my bead. I'll be his soon? What is he talking about? Why does he think that? So many unanswered questions. Cole pulls me towards the room's exit to get the car outside. When the butler comes with the car and it's finally there, Cole pushes me inside and hurries to get in the car as well. But what's his problem? Could he be ruder? He slams his door, and he speeds out of the parking lot towards the villa. On the highway, he accelerates until he reaches 250 km/h. Is he crazy? "Cole, slow down..." I say. Silence. "Cole!" I scream. I see his hands tense on the steering wheel, he suddenly brakes and stops on the side of the road. He brakes so hard and so quickly that I would've gone through the window if I didn't have my seatbelt on. He gets out of the car and heads towards my side. I opened my door and decided to get out myself. As I'm doing it, I say dryly: "What the hell are you doing?"
"AND YOU? WHAT WERE YOU DOING WHILE I WASN'T THERE?" he shouts.
"You're not going to blame me because David was talking to me, are you? And why would it be so bad that he talks to me? Just tell me!" I started to laugh, but not a happy laugh, no. A laugh of rage. Who does he think he is, yelling at me like that? "You're pathetic, Cole," I add.
He approaches me until my back is against the car. He grabs my neck with his right hand and squeezes it. I feel his hands choking me increasingly. I can barely breathe but the pressure isn't strong enough to make me lose consciousness or kill me. Thank God. "You had one task to do, and even that you failed," he tells me as he presses a little more on my neck.
"What... are you... talking about?" I try to say.
"You're really good at nothing." He says as he releases me abruptly and starts laughing. It's noted, this man is disturbed. I put my hands on my neck and move away from him. I don't want to be close to him when he's like that. He notices me backing away and stops laughing. His irises are so dark at this moment, he looks like his father.
"Are you scared of me, love?" he says, tilting his head a little to the side.
"No," I say quickly. He comes towards me, but I step back at the same time, not letting him get the proximity he wants.
"We were supposed to show that we were a couple, right?" Cole says as he continues to approach me. I don't see where he's going with this. He has definitely lost it, there's no doubt about it.
"Yes," I say quietly.
"Then explain to me why you were flirting with the bartender, Leila?" He says while tucking my hair behind my ear.
Wait! What? He's mad because the guy talked to me and gave me his number? As if he had read my thoughts, he continued saying: "I saw everything."
"That's not what you think, Cole."
"SHUT UP!" He says screaming. He's now in front of me, his breathing is erratic as if he's catching his breath. "You showed everyone that you weren't mine." he spits.
"I didn't take the paper with his number and I'm not yours!"
"People saw you with him so stop acting like a prude and accept that you failed miserably at your task."
"WHO CARES ABOUT PEOPLE! I DIDN'T TAKE HIS NUMBER! I told him that I was there with my boyfriend, so fuck off." I scream at the top of my lungs. "And YOU stop acting like a fucking jealous boyfriend. We're nothing, you got that?"
"Don't yell at me, Leila" he says, closing the space between us.
"It's the joke of the year!" I say, raising my hands to the sky. "You can yell at me, raise your hand on me, but I can't do shit?"
He looks at me intensely, his irises no longer dark but black with desire. The atmosphere around us had changed drastically. I no longer understand anything here. "I didn't take his number," I told him one last time, in a calmer voice.
"You talk too much." After he says that, he takes my face in his hands and kisses me. At first, I'm surprised, but he doesn't back away. A few seconds later, I return his kiss and allow him access to my mouth. Our tongues fused and became one. The kiss is intense, hot, and so unexpected. I can't think about anything else than this moment right now. It's like we've been waiting for this moment for a long time, but neither of us wanted to admit it. He puts his hands on my ass and lifts me off the ground. I wrap my legs around his waist and continue to deepen the kiss. He puts one of his hands behind my head and pulls my hair a little. My head tilts back, and he starts to kiss my neck. His lips are so good, so soft, and so... him. I let out a moan from my mouth and heard him growl before coming back to claim what was his. Yes, I said it. The ferocity with which he kisses me is starting to drive me crazy. As if he's finally admitting what he has been hiding for a long time, what we both have been hiding. He eventually withdrew himself and let go of me. I finally touch the ground and try to catch my breath. I can feel my heart pounding inside me. I look up at him and meet his gaze already on me. What just happened?
"We should go," he says, out of breath.
I nod and get in the car without saying a word, still in shock from what just happened between us. I wonder what he's thinking right now. Is he in the same state as me? Confused? Perplex? Or horny maybe? Since everything happened so quickly, I didn't even get a chance to ask him the questions that were on my mind. After what happened tonight and now, I have decided to save my questions for tomorrow. He won't be able to escape, and I'll finally know what's going on.
