A week has now gone by and Scott had a blast touring the peak district and London. He had almost forgotten about the uniform mix-up until Mrs. Evans handed him the school's handbook to review the night before his first day. When Scott opens the book, he notices it says Sophie Campbell instead of Scott Campbell on the cover but doesn't think much of it.

He goes through it, and it all seems like standard stuff except when he gets to the appearance section. It highlights the importance of obeying the uniform rules. He reads on to see the uniform rule and they explain the uniform, hanging in his closet. It mentions that stockings are optional during summer months which includes September. Scott thinks to himself, "This is going to be a nightmare."

The guidelines also state that all students must have at least shoulder-length hair worn down at all times, with the exception of gym class and sport, and all students must wear light makeup, which is then explained in detail what that entails. Scott is taken aback by the makeup requirement. He has never worn makeup before and doesn't feel comfortable with the idea. He thinks to himself, "At least I already have long hair but surely, they'll make an exception on the makeup. I don't even know how to wear it."

Scott reads that all students must partake in one school sport. He thinks about it for a moment, trying to remember if he was ever good at any sports in Canada. He had played hockey and soccer with his friends but never competitively. He wonders what sports are offered at the school and how that would even work being a boy on a girls sport team. He starts to feel a bit overwhelmed by all the new information and expectations.

Scott turns over in his bed and closes his eyes, trying to relax and calm his nerves. He can hear the sound of the rain outside, tapping against the window. He starts to drift off to sleep, but his mind keeps racing. He decides he better actually make sure the uniform fits before tomorrow morning.

He goes into the closet, looks at the uniform and thinks, "On second thought, maybe if it doesn't fit tomorrow, I won't have to wear it." Scott goes to sleep still anxious, wondering how his first day at Arbury School for Girls will go.
