Thief! Thief!

Nandini twisted and turned around unable to sleep. She bit her finger and blushed at the encounter she had with the Prince this morning. She hit herself in the head lightly and sighed. "You idiot," She whispered to herself. "The Prince asked you for only one thing no? You couldn't even give that to him?" Her consciousness asked. She regretted pushing him back and not kissing him. The look he gave her made her feel bad.

Unable to sleep she got up and silently tip-toed outside.

Nandini stretched out her arms and looked at the young moon shining beautifully in the night sky, she leaned onto a tree and curled her hair.

The crickets chirruped and the frogs croaked in the distance. The smell of rain engulfed the air around her. She looked up to see dark-bellied clouds masking the bright stars.

While Nandini was enjoying this peaceful scene, she heard a branch cracking. Nandini's heart skipped a beat.

"Who's there?" Nandini whipped her head back and asked. No reply came.

Crack. Another twig broke, Nandini started getting scared and decided it was the right time to back off.

"Ghost!" Nandini shrieked, but her shriek was cut off by a hand that sealed her mouth from behind. It was not a ghost, Nandini concluded. Ghost doesn't have a physical form.

"Iyya who are you?" She asked. The man laughed. "Are you a thief?" Nandini asked turning back, but he forced her to look ahead.

"Yes," The man replied, he had a deep, bone-chilling voice, which sent chills down Nandini's spine. The man held her in a soft chokehold.

"What do you want?" Nandini asked the man.

"What would a thief want?" He asked brushing his finger across Nandini's chin.

"Iyya, if you want any money, I don't have any," Nandini's breath hitched as his cold fingers touched her. The thief laughed.

"Which fool would ask for money when a golden statue is before them?" The thief flirted. Nandini cursed her luck, A ghost is a thousand times better than this pervert, she thought.

If Karikalar was here, he would've cut this man in half, Nandini thought. She cleared her throat and decided to sound as brave as possible. "Iyya, let me go," She said.

"I didn't go through all that trouble of getting through the guards just to let you go," He chuckled.

Nandini turned her head back a little to see her captor's face, but unfortunately, it was pitch black she couldn't see a thing. Plus the black cloth which was draped around his head didn't help her cause.

"How did you get through the Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyer's guards?" Nandini asked.

He laughed. "Not a big deal, just sprinkled a little sand in their eyes and jumped through the castle walls," He said simply as he snaked his other hand around her waist.

Nandini gulped. "Well, if getting into to castle was not a big deal, you could've surely trespassed into the treasury," Nandini said in a shaky voice.

"I'm not interested in treasure," He whispered into her ears.

"Aha, A thief not interested in treasure? What a rare sight," Nandini exclaimed. The man smiled.

"If I'm a thief, then what are you?" He asked in a low tone.

"I beg your pardon?" Nandini raised a brow. As far as she knew, she hadn't stolen anything.

"Just think of how many innocent boy's hearts you would've stolen" He was breathing down her neck, Nandini shivered a little. "Considering how pretty you are,"
