EIGHT

Max
------

Did I...imagine....

"What the hell are you doing Max?" Cemre's panicked voice made me flinch out of my trance.

I tilted my head upwards and peered at my brother.

"I-"

"I told you to stay on the log". He scolded as he came over.

"I-"

"Come on". He crouched down next to me and looped his arm beneath mine. "Up you go".

His attempt to get me on my feet failed until Donny came over and helped.

"T-thanks". I stammered. I was still trying to get back my bearings after what just happened. I felt...odd. Mentally and physically.

My brain was trying to come up with a reasoning behind the force that shoved me. While my body was working to keep me standing straight. My legs felt like noodles.

"What happened?" Donny asked.

"I..." I glanced at the spot I had been sitting while tying my shoes. Then I averted my gaze to the hill drop. There was at least 5 yardsticks worth of space between the two. Which meant I had to of been thrown at least fifteen feet or so.

"I don't know". I finally managed. I ran my good hand through my hair and grimaced when I felt the dirt clumps.

"Your like turning white". Donny pointed out.

"I hit my broken wrist pretty hard on something". I murmered.

I could still feel it throbbing.

"Do you feel nauseous?" Cemre questioned. He helped me over to the log.

"I feel dizzy".

I pressed the palm of my hand against my forehead to steady the spinning. Either my body was reacting from the pain in my wrist, or the sudden loss of the adrenaline I had felt moments ago.

"Are your fingers numb?"

"A little. Yeah".

"Maybe we should get you to a clinic?"

I probably would have refused if it weren't for the sudden vertigo hitting my system.

"Yeah".

"Are you okey to stand?"

"Cemre". I blinked, "I'm literally seeing two of you right now".

"Yeah. Help me get him up Donny".

I felt them hoist me up.

"Should we double back and get Uncle Gavin?" Donny asked. Although he was standing right next to me his voice sounded far away.

"It'll be quicker if we cut across up here".

"You sure?"

"Yeah".

I remained conscious the entire way, somehow, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't lift my head. I could barely even hold up my own weight.

All this because of a stupid wrist.

I wasn't completly convinced that it was because of that. Sure, my entire arm felt numb. And every time it was jarred, or Donny brushed against it, I felt hot needles prick at my bone.

I wasn't exactly sure how hard I hit it when I was...shoved? Everything happened so fast. Half of it was a total blur.

"Hay you still with us?" Cemre asked. His voice was distorted, like if I were under water or something.
