THIRTY- ONE

(Recap; Simon kidnapped Max. Jk. Max and Simon have gone on a adventure)

Max
-------

"Don't touch that". Simon snapped.

I was reaching out for the radio because the silence was driving me crazy, but my hand got only half way when Simon spoke up. I glared at him. "Why not?"

"I can't concentrate with music on".

I blinked once, twice, and thrice. Was he being serious?

"Why do you have to concentrate?" I threw a exaggerated hand out towards the road infront of us. "We're literally driving on my Uncle's driveway. There's no one around".

"I don't care".

I pressed my pointer and middle finger against my temple and exhaled. "That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard".

He made a sound deep in his throat but I never got a verbal response.

I waited until Simon was looking in the other direction before I made a second attempt to switch on the radio. He must have been watching because the moment my fingers touched the volume knob he slapped my hand away.

"Want me to kick you out?"

"You invited me!"

I slouched in my seat, and turned my head so I was looking out at the passing tree's.

"I'm guessing you don't like the silence". Simon spoke up.

It was unusual.

"I'm just not used to it". I mumbled.

"I think your just not accustomed to bieng without Donny and Cemre".

Maybe he was right.

It felt weird not having Donny leaning over my shoulder while going on and on about something insane. Or Cemre calling the both of us idiots while he fumbled through the radio stations for his stupid country music.

"I bet it's nice having brothers". Simon said in a quiet tone.

"I guess".

The car came to a slow stop at the edge of the drive, and instead of going towards town, Simon took a left. Which was the same way Uncle Gavin took for the research facility.

I was about to ask- again- where we were going, but before I had a chance Simon spoke up.

"Since we're gonna be hanging out for the next...." he glanced at the clock on the dashboard. "Few hours I want to call a truth".

I quirked a brow. "A truth?"

"That's what I said".

"You mean like pretend that we like each other". I motioned between us as I said this.

"Yes".

"Ugh", I drawled, "I don't know if I can do that".

"Just give me two reasons why you hate me". He said, sounding impatient.

"Alright". I tapped my chin as I thought about this. "Okey. For one, your driving sucks. You tryna be a old lady or something?" I motioned to the speed sign up ahead. "It says 55 your going 41".

"It's my aunt's car!"

"And I bet she drives like a maniac." I added, "Most women do".

His jaw clenched and he shook his head.

"The second reason is....I don't like your hair".

Not to mention his attitude, his lack of driving music, his height, his face, so basically everything about him annoyed me.
