TWENTY- ONE
Max
------Why do I even agree to anything Donny wants to do?
This was a really bad idea. Exploring a research facility. It had so much 'this is wrong' written all over it.
"Your falling behind Max". Donny called from ahead.
I watched in annoyance as he threw himself around a corner and disappeared out of my line of sight.
"Donny". I hissed. I picked up my pace.
"Look at this". Donny quipped when I rounded the corner. He was crouching infront of a thick metal door with a large see in window.
"Stop ditching me". I snapped.
He pressed his finger to his lips then pointed at the door.
I clamped my mouth shut and peeked through the window. The glass was a bit obscured so everything inside was blurry. But I could make out white shapes moving around inside.
"What do you think their doing in there?" Donny asked.
"Research". I replied in a duh tone. "That's what this place is".
"I wanna go in".
He reached for the door handle but I threw my arm out to block him. "We are not going in there".
"Fine". He dug out his phone then snapped a few pictures.
"What are you doing now?"
"I am taking pictures. What are you doing?"
I sighed. "Yeah. But why?"
"Self motivations".
The sound of a door slamming shut echoed from down the hall followed by the steady thrum of various footsteps.
I grabbed the back of Donny's shirt and continued dragging him in the opposite direction.
"Where are we going?" He asked.
"Somewhere not so much in the open".
The halls came to a small four way section and I took us down the right row.
"This place is alot bigger then it looks".
"It's also going to be impossible to find the cafeteria again". I voiced in irritation. All the halls looked exactly the same.
"We need popcorn".
"Why?"
"So we can leave a popcorn trail". He clarified.
The hall came to a sharp left turn which led to a flight of stairs going down.
"Yo! This place has a basement. Sick".
I slapped my good hand over his mouth when the sound of voices resonated from the room below.
"Are they coming up?" Donny whispered.
"No". The voices were growing distant actually.
After a moment Donny slapped my hand away then crept down the staircase. I threw a glance in the direction we had come before following him down.
"Look at this place". Donny said in awe when we reached the bottom step.
"It's just a boiler room".
A danky, creepy old boiling room with a dark hallway leading further in.
"Let's check it out".
If Cemre were here he'd probably insist that we head back to the cafeteria. Which was the smart thing to do. And honestly I was getting a bad feeling about this.
