SEVENTEEN

After searching high and low for Donny I had reached the point of worry mixed with absolute frustration. "Where the hell is that brat?".

"Maybe he went back to the cave?" Onnie suggested.

"I'm sure he's already lost interest in the zipline". I hope.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that". Simon voiced.

I glanced at him. He cocked his head in a direction and I spun on my heel.

Holy.shit!

My eyes bulged.

There he was. Donny. Doing a handstand on the cave ledge with both his legs bent in the zipline straps.

"Looks like he's going for it". Simon said.

The only thing keeping him in place was his hands, and...Max! Who was holding onto his shirt.

"Should we do s-" before Onnie could finish that sentence Donny let out a high pitched scream as Max gave him a push.

I felt my stomach twist as he sped, upside down, down the line. His speed increasing by the second.

"He's gonna die".

And just as those words left my mouth one of Donny's legs came loose from the straps. His other leg must've followed because he was suddenly falling. He did a half flip before he landed on his back several yards away.

"Shit". I sprinted over to him. "Donny!"

By the time I reached my stupid brother a small crowd had gathered. A few of the poeple were asking if he was alright. While some were taking videos.

Donny was lying on his back, eyes closed. At first glance I thought he was unconscious until a string of giggles left his lips.

"You idiot". I scowled. I smacked him in the chest. "What the hell were you thinking?"

Jeez. I sound like a mother.

His eyes slowly cracked open as he wrestled himself into a sitting position. He glanced around at the growing crowd and shyly smiled. "Am I alive?"

"No duh".

Part of the crowd split as Max shoved his way through. "You okey Donny?"

"Never better".

The worry on Max's face faded into a grin. "That was pretty cool man".

I glared at Max. "He could've wound up seriously hurt".

"Look at him he's fine".

Donny was smiling like a lunatic as he took in the crowd around us. His smile grew even wider when he noticed Isla Sparrow was part of said crowd.

I got to my feet and offered a hand down to him. "Come on".

He took my hand and I pulled him up.

"How was the ride?" Max asked.

"Short".

Some guy with long dreads fistpumed Donny as we passed. "That was awesome man".

"Thanks".

When we made it out of the crowd I brought us over to where Onnie and Simon were waiting.

"Are you alright?" Onnie asked. Her eyes were wide with concern and she pulled Donny into a hug.

"Ya fine".

"Good".

Why does he get a hug?
