TWO YEARS PASS.

1777, APRIL 03rd, SUNDAY 12:00 pm.

Autumn ended and winter began. Ice and snow intermingled with the storm and sea outside the asylum. Frost formed on the cold, hard metal making the gigantic tower. Far, far away from the asylum, back at Cross HQ, a black kitten walked the halls.

It did not have a left eye or right ear, nor did it have any burn scars, but it did survive the fire. Now it wore a collar with the nametag Phoenix. It meowed and approached the two people who approached. Mary bent down and held her hand out to the kitten as it rubbed its face against her fingers.

"Glad to see the baby's doing better," Shaylin smiled.

"I was really worried there back then," Mary said. "So now you can create Grim gel on the fly?"

"Sorta. It's not as potent as Grim gel, but it's similar," Shaylin said. "I'm going to implement it in my project firefly... After I finish analyzing Magpie's stasis ability."

"Do you really think you can replicate the birds' VIPs with your technology?"

"I'm confident. The data I collected from her alone will help me leaps and bounds with quantum locking."

"Quantum locking?"

"The idea of locking mass in place in its XYZ axis in space," she said. "Although that's the simple version. I have to take into account the planet spinning and stuff, so it's really locking it into a set velocity."

"Uh-huh."

"Combined with the data I collected from Falcon, I could probably do teleportation too. I have a theory, wanna hear?"

"Suuuure."

"Ok, basically molecules A and B are both connected to each other, regardless of the distance they're separated. So whatever happens to molecule A happens to B too," she said. "So if you move A up one inch, then B moves up one inch too. What if you could add to molecule A?"

"How would that add to molecule B? It can't create mass out of thin air."

"True, but what if both molecules match, but in different time frames. Basically, if molecule A has an addition in minute one and molecule B gets that same addition in minute two. As if transferred from A to B instantaneously."

"So both molecules would have the same mass if time wasn't involved?"

"Yep."

Mary paused. "Well, good luck figuring that out."

"Don't worry. Since I'm not part of the Cross military, I've got plenty of time to research."

Winter melted to spring as warmth was carried on warm winds. Then time went on and spring became summer. Tak de Leon stood on the track field as Dreg opposed him.

"If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it," the general said. "You've mastered every move I've shown you in one attempt."

"N-Noche said I had a perfect kinesthetic memory," the immortal replied.

"If we keep training at this pace, you could master every martial art I know in a year or two," he said. "Hundreds of martial arts that would normally take lifetimes to acquire... I've never had a student so proficient."
