VEHICULAR VANGUARD.

1777, APRIL 03rd, SUNDAY 11:11pm.

Noche's eye widened as drive started to fill her body once again. The sensation was akin to eating, except the feeling of fullness was slowly filling every inch of her form. After two years of being empty, it was almost like being dunked into a pool of hot water. The energy buzzed within her like lightning waiting to be unleashed.

She continued to focus on forcefully regenerating her drive as the helicopter got further and further from the asylum and the hydras. Then the ocean erupted as if three of the world's largest volcanoes exploded underwater — a trio of hydra heads appeared dozens of miles ahead of them.

Medusa and Shaylin were forced to tilt the helicopter to the side. Loose wires, ammo crates, and other knick knacks scatter about slid to the side. A few loose items fell out of the open door as everyone grabbed onto the nearest handhold.

The helicopter blades hit hydra scales and sent a shower of golden sparks flying across the black sky. Fortunately, the two pilots managed to stabilize the helicopter and they flew alongside a wall of scales that reached the clouds.

"Great! Now there's ten of them!" Medusa yelled.

The ex-president of Cross began to unbuckle her seat belt but stumbled when she stood up.

"Medusa, you're still too weak," Shaylin said. "Besides the whole point of coming here was to rescue you. It'd be pointless if you joined the fray only for something to happen."

"Well none of us are getting out of here if we don't distract the hydra."

"Ohh? I'll do it," Vida said.

"I-I'll help too," Tak joined in.

"Are you both sure?" Medusa asked.

Vida's only response was to grin.

"I've done a lot of training since you've been gone," Tak said. "I-I think I can do it."

The ex-president nodded.

"Luckily I had some tech prepared for an emergency," Shaylin said. "Once these two head out, I'll activate our defenses."

Vida didn't wait another word. She jumped out of the helicopter and fire erupted from her hands and feet; she flew towards the hydra on the left. Tak nodded at the group before jumping out too, however, he created a massive ramp of ice on the surface of the ocean.

He slid down, created a frozen floor across the sea, and let out controlled bursts of kinetic energy using momentum redirection to accelerate to breakneck speeds. All in the direction of the hydra on the right. Meanwhile, Mary kept an eye on Vida's direction while Alice did the same for Tak.

"Three seconds," Alice said. "That's the most warning I can give."

"Alright, here goes nothing," Shaylin said.

She flipped some switches and pressed a button on a box mounted to the dashboard. Within seconds a shimmering forcefield spread around the helicopter.

"A bubble?" Noche asked.

"A kinetic energy barrier. It's based off my research on Dreg's momentum redirection and Owl's energy manipulation," Shaylin said. "Think of it as a shield version of my boost pads. It transfers kinetic energy from the impact point to the opposite end of the bubble. Allowing it to flow around us like a river."

"So it's a bubble."

"It's a faaaaancy bubble."

"Is this enough to withstand the hydra?" Medusa asked.
