WELCOME PRISONER.

1774, NOVEMBER 29th, TUESDAY 5:15 am.

It was the wildest storm Noche had ever been in. Her hair whipped in every direction like angry snakes, and she was drenched to the bone. The sky was blackened, and the only illumination was the occasional bolt of white lightning. However, it was the rain that was the fiercest. It cascaded with such force that a monsoon would seem like a drippy faucet in comparison.

She was in awe of its might, despite standing it in for less than a minute. Not too long ago, she was leaving Galloway's office with the Grave brothers escorting her away. Then Red picked her up, slung her over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes, and ran at super sonic speed. Noche's augment was the only reason she wasn't blown to pieces by the sheer force. It was a struggle to remain conscious.

A few hours later, she now stood on the island that was home to the asylum. The twins could probably move faster but held back to keep Noche alive. They even ran across water. It was terrifying to grasp how strong someone at General level really was.

Noche shifted her wrist, around it was a handcuff connected to Blue. It was the plastic toy kind – they didn't need real DriveMetal ones. Not while they still had Cherries's life in their hands. Even without a hostage, there wasn't much Noche could do to get away from them.

A quick glance behind her revealed waters so rough they could topple a tanker ship and waves that threatened tsunamis. The rain was so heavy it could shred metal and more than one tornado was visible out on the ocean. Plus lightning struck the water at least once every ten seconds. It was the worst nightmare of anyone trying to escape the island.

However, these sights were trivial to the one in front of her. A tower, a massive tower, about a mile in diameter and whose height went beyond the clouds. There were chains that held this tower in place and each gargantuan link was bigger than a mansion. Seagulls filled the air and looked like tiny grains of black rice in comparison.

Every time the wind changed direction the chains would shift and cause thousand of sparks to scatter in all directions like fireworks. They were attached to the middle of the tower and went far out into the depths of the dark waters around her.

"The largest man-made structure in history," Red said. "There's a legend about a tower that reached the heavens, and the gods punished humanity by giving them different languages... If such a tower existed, ours would dwarf it."

Noche stared at the clouds and the tower's top that disappeared somewhere beyond them.

Red slapped Noche on the back and leaned over in her ear.

"Admiring its might?"

She glared at him, and he grinned.
