The next day
Georgia got up early. She put on a pair of cotton blue wide leg pants and a burgundy wool sweater on top. She went to the kitchen and made banana pancakes, her son's favorite. She made green tea for herself. Then she went to the living room and installed the cassette player, she put blankets on the couch. She wanted to make it cozy. She still couldn't get over the fact that the little girl kie was now in the hospital, in a coma. She so wanted to see her again, alive not lying in a hospital bed. Georgia and Kie had a special bond. That she had with no one else. They trusted each other with their lives.
Her thoughts had been interrupted by people entering the room.
They were John B, Sarah and Jj.
"Oh hey guys, I made breakfast want some?" Georgia asked.
"Yeah, sure thanks." John B answered.
The pogues and Georgia sat down at the table. She gave each pogue two pancakes and poured herself another cup of green tea.
"When are Pope and Cleo going to be here?" asked Georgia.
Jj pulled out his cell phone and looked at the time.
"In five minutes" he replied.
"So did Kie change?" Georgia.
The pogues remained silent.
"Oh sorry stupid question."
"No it's okay, I don't really think she's changed much." said Jj.
"Does she still have those gorgeous curls?"
"Yep" John B asked.
"Did nothing really change then?"
"She has teeth," Jj said laughing.
"And she's gotten better than Jj at surfing." John B said.
"No way, someone beat surf king Jesse James Maybank?"
"Mom!"
"What, Jesse James?" Sarah said.
"Look what you did!"
"Sorry" Georgia said laughing.
They just continued laughing.
But their laughter was interrupted by Cleo and Pope entering the room.
"Having fun without us?" joked Pope.
"We wouldn't dare." John B said.
"You guys want a pancake?" Georgia asked.
"Nope, Heyward already gives us enough food." Cleo said.
"So do you guys want to look at the cassattes?" asked Georgia.
The pogues nodded.
The pogues sat down, Jj sat on a seat, John B and Sarah on another seat and Pope and Cleo on the floor. Georgia put the first cassette in the cassette player, pressed play and sat down next to her son.
On the video.
The video featured feet in yellow sandals, the toe nails painted in bright blue.
The frame of the video went up and then it showed a kitchen, it was not the Maybanks' house. It was the chateau.
Then a woman's voice sounded.
"How do I know if this thing is on John?"
"If there's a red light then it's on," a male voice sounded from afar.
