Chapter 4

 1 month later

Sarah, john b, jj and kie lived in the condo for about one month now. It took a while until they were fully accustomed to it. Jj and kie almost got a heart attack when Sarah stood in their room midnight, later they realized she was sleepwalking. Jj's carelessness then again Sarah had to get used to that. Kie's singing in the shower. And John b's cookie addiction, can you blame him 'those cookies are so soft, creamy and crispy at the same time' as john b puts it.

Now after a month they are all used to it. When kie and jj suddenly woke up at midnight because Sarah was sleepwalking for the umpteenth time that week, they just turned over and slept on. Also jj passed on his sloppy trait to the rest, when Sarah came home she just kicked her shoes somewhere in the house, which she would never have done before. When the other pogues wanted to shower they just asked for kie's "shower" playlist. And now all the pogues are also addicted to those cookies that are so soft, creamy and crispy at the same time. So that's how the pogues lived at this time, one big happy 'family'.

Of course, the past month did not always go smoothly. John b and Sarah were still grieving a lot about their fathers. Kie didn't sleep well, the first two weeks she woke up in the middle of the night all sweaty, shaking. This happened almost every night. Whenever such a terrible nightmare haunted her mind. The grip those creepy guys had on her arms, her screaming parents and then that needle with medication. Fortunately Jj was there a simple "it's okay" or "I love you" could calm her down. She didn't know how a voice could bring her so much peace, yet jj's could. This past month jj was a rock for kie she could lean on and trust him.

And jj ...

Jj actually felt no sadness. Of course the first week was a little difficult, he also lost Big john. Big john was like a father figure to him. He also felt bad for Sarah, Sarah lost her father the second time in a row. He was not the best person and one of his number one enemies. But the pogues are family. And Sarah is a pogue. And family supports each other.

After that first week, he actually felt very happy. His father was gone, sometimes he does miss him. But he was still a terrible father. He spent every day with his friends, his family, the pogues. And he always had the love of his life beside him, ready to help him in any situation.

But a few days ago, he heard a rumor. "Luke Maybank is back in town. Jj didn't believe what he heard so he ignored it. But sometimes it bothered him, what if he really is back? Would he come looking for me?

Jj decided not to tell the pogues, he didn't want them worried about things not sure they were there. So he kept it to himself.

When Jj decided to go to his old house while the others were shopping. He found someone he didn't want to find at all.

He froze. His eyes wide open.

This could not happen. His father back in town

'Hey, son' spoke Luke

'Stay there' said jj

'Okay okay, aren't you glad to see me back son?" luke took small steps toward Jj.

'Don't call me that!" yelled jj

Luke took a few steps back and threw his hands into the air in defense

'Look, son, jj I missed you'

'You can say what you want, I'm out of here' jj turned and headed for the door

"Jj, please wait, I've changed okay, I know I was terrible, I want to repair our relationship, I gave you a terrible childhood and I know that, I treated you way too hard sometimes, but I love you!'

Jj saw tears in those corners of his father's eyes. Jj rarely saw his father cry

So he knew something had changed 

'I've been clean for almost three months'

None of the two said anything.

It was Jj who stepped forward and wrapped his arms around his father.

'I've missed you, dad'

'I missed you too, son'

'I love you, remember that Jj'

Jj took a few seconds and replied

'I love you too, dad'

'Come here, tell me about your life lately.'

'Well...' began jj

Jj and luke talked for hours

Jj was glad his father had changed

But it was too good to be worth it, right?
