Drunk. Thrilled. Happy. I take my celebration for the first part of my plan working out, back to Rayne's unintentionally. Xavier was wasted as well so Rayne was practically taking care of us both. Being the only sober person, he helps me into his bedroom and Xavier on the couch, where he stayed as I fell asleep sleeping off the tequila.
I stirred to my feet after an hour or feeling like a fish out of water, heading to the kitchen and forget I'm not in my place and freak when I see Rayne behind me.
"What are you looking for?" He asks.
"Water." I say holding my chest since my heart almost busted out of it.
He leans over me and opens the cabinet door that's behind me, grabbing a cup handing it to me then turns the faucet on.
"Thanks." I place the cup underneath stopping the water half way and take a few gulps before placing it inside the sink.
Feeling my heart still racing I balance myself near the counter and hold my head hearing voices again.
Hold her down.
Rayne comes towards me slow and goes to make sure I'm okay and when I snap my head back up to look at him he raises his hands up making sure I can see them.
"I'm not going to hurt you. I just wanted to make sure you were alright."
I scoff looking up feeling my eyes water forcing it back down but a tear slips out anyways and I wipe it away fast.
"I'm fine." I breathe out and before I can start walking , I get lightheaded losing my footing but Rayne catches me.
"I think you might still be wasted." He says as he helps me onto my feet better and I inhale his scent sobering up faster than I ever have.
"Yeah..." I push my curls back and remove myself out his arms.
He backs away but watches as I make it inside the room safe then goes back to laying down on the couch.

Morning comes around and I feel the aftermath of my drinking and hear my phone ringing like crazy. I check who it is and see it's an unsaved number knowing it's Don. I make him wait then answer on the fiftieth call ruffling my hair. "Yes? Is there a reason you're blowing my phone up this early?" I say pretending to yawn holding my head up. Don screams and I fake yawn again moving the phone from my ear for a minute then place it back. "I see why you're upset but we won't be able to resolve your problem with you yelling like a lunatic." He huffs and puffs and calms down telling me to meet him on his campus and I look at the time. "I'll see if I can make it." With that I hung up and got out of Rayne's bed seeing Xavier drinking an energy drink but making me coffee.
"Where's your buddy?" I ask sitting on the metal stool stretching only being in my shirt from last night since I took my jeans off in the middle of the night as soon as I got in bed again feeling constricted.
"Right here."
He says walking in from behind carrying in bags of groceries, glancing at my legs then a little bit up, landing on my thighs. "Oh, well I need to go to the school's campus. I need to be brought to my place to shower though." I say talking to Xavier as he gives me the coffee. Rayne pries his eyes off my body and starts putting the groceries away saying, "I can take you while Xavier sobers up more." Xavier raises his hands up, "By all means. Take her. I have a headache anyways." I roll my eyes rising from the stool going to the bedroom putting my jeans back on and looking for my shoes.
"Where are my bo-" Xavier hands them over to me making me zip them back on.
Rayne has me follow him to his car and we get in at the same time.

Once we parked at the campus I told Rayne to stay there and to wait until I came back. I get out walking over to Don, who's in front of the school's fountain. Me having shades on blocking out the morning sun, I slide them up and smile. "Liked my message? I thought you would like it." Don grabs hold of my arm dragging me to a confined corner, triggering me and having me ready to stab him if I needed to.
"You conniving bitch. Who the hell are you? And what did you stick in my arm last night?" He says about to slam me against the wall but I shove him away.
"I would be careful where you put your hands, you might lose them." I say cold watching him fidget.
"Just tell me what you did. Tell me!" He yells gripping onto his head and scratching his arm aggressively.
"I gave you a small dosage of what's to come next, why? Doesn't feel so good does it?"
He lounges at me trying to grab hold of my throat but Rayne pulls him back by his shirt collar, he yelps and has bugged eyes seeing his attacker. Rayne eyes him carefully and I just grab hold of Don's jaw liking that he's afraid. "You have two hours to call your uncle and tell him you ran into trouble. Have him come here and say you need cash. When he gives you it you call me and I'll end the poison coursing through those pathetic veins of yours." Don nods and I let go and Rayne tosses him to the side watching him scramble and run off.
I keep watch seeing Don stumble off campus as Rayne looks to the side where I'm standing.
"Why are you playing cat and mouse with him?"
I slide my shades down looking up to Rayne, "Lions stalk, taunt and kill their prey. That's what's happening in this situation. When you learn to sit back and observe it won't be that hard to catch on Evans."
Rayne stops me as I'm about to walk off by holding my hand, "Since you're the queen of this unforeseen jungle, who's the king?" I scoff low sliding my shades off completely, my eyes zero in on his, "You mean who thinks they are? I'm not telling you that. Just know Don is the gazelle, he's far from the king." I say taking my hand back.
"And don't get any ideas Evans. You can't help me on this journey, no one can." I say serious.
"That's not what I'm observing." He says shrugging.
I fold my arms raising my eyebrow, "Then what is it that you're observing? Because either way you're going to have put your life on the line, that's what it's going to cost on this journey."
Rayne nods taking me inside his car then takes out a switch blade from his back pocket.
It opens and when it does he cuts his left palm since his right is bandaged like mine from a day ago. I smile low holding out mine and he cuts it pressing them together.
"Then I guess I'm signing it away to you then."
