IT HAD BEEN THREE YEARS SINCE THE INCIDENT THAT HAD LEFT THE URASHIMA FAMILY DOWN TO ITS LAST DESCENDANT. And since those three years .. Rieka resumed a low profile. Or at least she tried to. The normalcy in her life was overturned to a new leaf when Satoru Gojo decided to follow the girl everywhere.

She wasn't sure when it had actually begun or even why for that matter.

Sometimes the boy was helpful, other times he was plain useless.

An instance of the former was when the heir and head to the Zen'in clan had denied Rieka the right to assume the role of head when she was the last member of her clan left, just because of her gender.

They argued that the clan entirely should have been dissolved.

But with intervention from Satoru Gojo, begrudgingly they had changed their minds. However, since then, Rieka didn't want to stick out in society. But Satoru made that difficult, always dragging her around everywhere, getting her caught up on the assassination attempts on his life.

She wasn't quite sure what sparked the boy's interest in her. She remembered asking but ..

"Interest? I was just bored. You're the first person y'know .. to not treat me like what I was born to be. Even if you're super ungrateful for my presence!" Gojo stared up at the sky that reflected his prismatic orbs.

"Yeah because you're just a leech, a pain in the neck, a—" Rieka was cut off as the boy had 'accidentally' threw his arm over her face in the midst of laying down on the emerald green grass.

Rieka was thirteen now, currently still in the middle of her growth spurt, remaining an inch or two taller than Satoru. For now.

They saw each other much less than they originally did. As they were getting older, the training increased. There was always something they hadn't learned yet. Rieka was preparing to enter the Tokyo school for Jujutsu sorcerers where she would be all year round.

So he was pestering her whenever he had the time, ditching meetings with the elders, leaving behind his caretakers, dismissing himself from training early to train with Rieka instead. He found her cursed technique much more interesting to see than that of whatever his instructor at the time was demonstrating.

Being able to see her ability was like a different world. It was a technique she unlocked at the age of five but she wasn't quite capable of using it until the incident at the age of nine.

But they were like harp strings, strings of the soul that tied every person together, like jellyfish.

He was so fascinated, like a child.

"There's nothing special about it." Rieka would say simply. Truly there wasn't much she could do with it, so she always practiced her spell work and hand to hand combat.

But Rieka .. she was naturally gifted. She grasped onto concepts quickly and would execute them in minimal tries. Her conservation of cursed energy also was getting better.

There were still some layers of the girl that she wasn't ready to unravel yet .. but they would be in due time.

Gojo smiled. Rieka who had stopped writing had raised a brow at the younger boy. "... Why are you smiling?"

It typically only happened when gojo had silly ideas.

"I'm proud of my hard work. It's starting to pay off. all my hours I spent busting my ass to teach you." He grinned, stretching his limbs out but received a clean smack over the head.

"You mean my hard work. the patience I had to have for you?" Rieka scoffed.

Gojo ignored her response, so Rieka switched the topic. "The principal of the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu School reached out to me." The girl began spinning her pen around, folding the paper and sealing it within an envelope.
