"ALWAYS HAVE FAITH, MEGUMI. It's one of the only things you can have — it's something that no one can take away from you .. that's why for the longest of times, religion has existed."
"Right or wrong .. it doesn't matter. I just .. have faith in my own good conscience, even if it doesn't fall to everyone's standards." He was their beloved blessing, and no matter what .. they always had faith in the person he would become.
"So that's how it is." Itadori muttered in reply.
He nodded. "There's scum in the world who cling onto people's words rather than their actions .. people who have fallen so far that what they have isn't faith anymore, it's just desperation. Those people can't be saved."
They stared at the corpse of the woman before their eyes who so ignorantly believed that she would be saved.
Yuji tried not to let the pity sting his heart.
He tried not to let his old self righteous pretentious self peer through the window of his soul. The one that wanted to save and protect rather than harm and kill other human beings.
He once believed that their lives were priceless ..
Now he realized that they were worth nothing.
So even when he had discovered that Maki had killed and slaughtered the entire Zen'in clan .. even her own mother .. and his other two senpai, Yuta and Inumaki who had later killed all of the higher ups ..
This was the world they lived in now.
The fact that he held no resentment for them, nor Megumi or himself .. but held so much still for Mahito ..
It made him think quite a bit.
Where was his faith — what was his good conscious?
"Are you sure you're in the right condition to be moving around?" The raven haired boy had asked the brunette who nodded her head. "I can't see as well from my left eye, but now Maki and I are matching!"
Rieka was able to mend and re-weld her soul that mahito had morphed, but since some time had been dealt since she sustained the injury, merely being kept alive by Arata Nitta's cursed technique, the reverse technique couldn't apply to her injury all the way, leaving the girl with a hefty astigmatism.
But it was better than being dead.
And she couldn't complain, considering Inumaki had lost an entire limb, Maki had also lost an eye along with her sister, Itadori lost his resolve and Megumi his mother.
Hana only wordlessly followed the trio, lagging behind a bit. Angel had been quiet ever since Ryomen Sukuna woke up in the body of the demi goddess.
In a way, she felt rather helpless.
How long ago was it? Was it nine years ago? It was likely around then when she had been saved by Fushiguro Megumi and his divine dog.
She was captured and held hostage by a curse. Her and many other girls. The curse treated them like its child or its subjects .. those were grueling gruesome days.
But one day, she had been led to safety by a white wolf sent by a boy.
A woman and man praised him and called him Megumi .. it meant blessing.
It seemed fitting.
All this time, she had searched for him day and night .. just when she had gotten the opportunity to save his life from Sukuna .. the evil that Angel had been searching for for a long time ..
Hana had messed it up.
That mistake had led Rieka to sacrifice herself. In the end she was able to open the back door of the prison realm but by then it was too late. She should have done that first before setting conditions to their agreement.
