THE SEASONS PROGRESSED QUICKLY. The summer heat simmered down into the autumn hues of fall and eventually, the colorful leaves had shed themselves to fall into a slumber. Winter was supposed to near its end soon however a long cold front had prevented new life to spring alive.
She was wrapped warmly in a chestnut brown scarf that complimented the ribbon in her hair. Exhaling, leaving a frosty breath, she looked up to the sky where little snowflakes entangled themselves in the umber brown locks.
The term was almost coming to an end and surprisingly, the Jujutsu sorcerers were given a break just as normal high school students would. However they would still be called in when needed.
The weather reminded her of a boy whose hair was as white as a sheet of snow. She hadn't seen him nor Suguru around. They were out making a reputation for themselves.
They were the strongest, the new age for young Jujutsu sorcerers.
"Shoko, isn't it a bit early for you to be smoking?" Rieka had called out to her younger underclassman who exalted a breath above her.
The aspiring doctor looked down to see her senpai. She didn't bother to hide the object between her fingers. When the older girl had made it up the stairs, Shoko had her hand extended.
Rieka took up her offer on the cigarette and lit a fire.
"It's only nine in the morning, isn't it a little early for you to be smoking, senpai?" She mocked.
Unfortunately, the head of the Urashima family wasn't having it that morning and gently knocked her over the head.
To put it simply Rieka and Shoko were ... smoking buddies.
It began three months ago when she had caught a certain raccoon smoking behind the school. They shared a few secrets that stayed only between them. Otherwise they didn't really interact with one another.
Now, a few times a week, they would coincide.
The school was quiet, mostly empty. There was no one to set an example for. Her time was her own.
Her hair was much longer now. When tied up, it was down to hips. When it was undone, it was much past it. To manage the length, she had taken up a side braid. A gentle look.
Rieka enjoyed the cold. She loved not being able to feel her fingertips .. the way her face seemed to be frozen in one expression. The numbness of her body after overexerting its limits. The feeling of still being sleepy after waking up several times.
"You didn't go with the two for this one?"
Shoko shrugged it off. "Nah, they can handle this one on their own."
After becoming a special grade sorcerer, to substitute for Yuki Tsumuko who was described sourly by the elders as someone who was lazy and abandoned her responsibilities as a Jujutsu sorcerer. Rieka had a feeling there was more to it than that.
The girl was then on sent out on assignments that were meant for Yuki.
There were very few special grades that were alive. Yuki Tsumuko was the oldest and Satoru Gojo was the youngest special grade to have ever existed. They were anomalies with the potential of mass destruction.
And then there were the men from the Zen'in family who didn't see Rieka fit as a special grade. But that was fine, she didn't care for them.
Nowadays, it just seemed like her life revolved around missions. She constantly travelled all over Japan but was always under a veil before she could sightsee anything.
