DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS PASSED and time seemed to blur together, each one indistinguishable from the last. The sun would rise and set, and the world would continue to turn, but it all felt like a dream.

They moved about their lives, going through the motions, but something was missing. It was as if they were all just waiting for something to happen, something to break the monotony of their existence. And yet, as the weeks turned into months, and the months turned into a year, nothing ever did.

The world kept turning, time kept passing, and the people kept living, but it all felt hollow and monochrome. As if they were all just waiting for the end to come.

They were haunted by the memories of what they had lost, of the people they had loved and the dreams they had once held. And yet, she kept going, kept living, kept trying to find meaning in a world that seemed to have lost its soul.

They clung to hope, to the belief that somehow, someday, things would get better.

And gradually it did.

They slowly began to regain the normalcy in their life again.

Rieka had graduated months prior. The ceremony was humble and small .. she, Utahime and Mei Mei were the only ones left alive to do so, and after those events from last school year .. they had became less busy.

Normally, they would've been glad .. but knowing that the amount of curses had decreased .. there was only one underlying cause.

There was a boy with obsidian black hair that gleamed in the light. He tiptoed over to the couch where a woman slumbered quietly, staring at the figure.

Beside him was a white dog, a wolf to be precise. It gently nudged the female as she began to stir awake.

Blinking a few times she adjusted her medallion eyes to the light of day, after coming home late last night. "I'm going now."

She sat up, her hair was tangled and matted but still had a bright sheen to it. The golden hour painted the flat in different hues, making even Rieka's hair like straws of gold.

The wolf helped balance the woman as she stood up.

"I'll take you today .. did you already have breakfast?" She had asked, looking at the clock, there was still around half an hour until the boy had to head to elementary school. By foot it would've taken ten to fifteen minutes to arrive, but if it was her, it'd only take a second.

He was about to protest but she placed a hand on his hand.

"It's alright, Megumi." She reassured.

The house they were in was not hers, it was in a run down suburban area and the name was under the Fushiguro family. The mother that had died some time ago .. and the father who had been killed by her partner's hands .. but he didn't know that, not that it would've mattered if he did.

The boy had a sister who was in a coma, unable to be woken by even the curse reversal technique.

So it was just him left, along with his shikigami.

Four months ago he had met a man with unusual peculiar white hair and the iciest blue eyes he'd ever seen.

Also the tallest.

And weirdest.

And oddly enough, he chose to trust this man.
