We were shortly shown to our room by a man named Randy. He seemed nice and chatty but I didn't stop to talk. I'm not very good at making friends, I struggled to trust people I had only just met. One thing I was beginning to notice here were that there were few women. The majority of people were male. What was that about? I sat down with kid. I decided that he could understand me but just struggled with his words. I would have to teach him those eventually.
"Hey Kid. Listen. You've been here longer than me and I'm sure you have been to the school already. It can't be that bad. I know your scared but it's only for a few hours a day and then you can come back to me ok?"
"No, please mummy" he pleaded.
"Look Kid. I don't want to be mean but you have to go. If you don't we will both be kicked out of here. I don't really know what here is like yet but for now it's a lot safer than out there. Trust me. Until we figure what to do next please do this. It will make mummy happy." I replied with a smile.
" Ok" he said reluctantly despite hugging me in exchange. You could tell this kid was scared. I now know about how they found him but had something happened to him here as well? There was something not quite right with this place.
"I'll take you to school tomorrow morning ok? You can cuddle bear tonight and I'll be right here with you. You're not alone now" I said as I tucked him in bed. Neither of us are I thought to myself.
I lay in my bed, looking over at kid to see he was fast asleep. Tomorrow after I had taken kid to school, I needed to find out more about this place and get my questions answered. It wasn't just me I was looking after now, I had someone else relying on me and I felt it was my duty to protect him.
