"Oh, it was fine. I'm gonna go say hi to Salish, okay?"
"Sure, honey, but come down in a few minutes so we can have a proper conversation about your first day."
Salish is reading and taking notes when I walk into her room, as usual.
"Hey, S."
"Ever heard of knocking?"
"Jeez, I just wanted to check on you. Calm down."
"Brooklyn. Leave. Me. Alone."
"Salish, what's wrong with-"
"GET OUT!!!" Salish storms out of her chair and slams the door right in my face.
How could Salish just-
Oh no. Please not this again. The hallway is getting blurry, and I feel like I'm about to lose my balance just from standing.
"Salish, we do NOT yell in this house. Apologize to your sister right now."

"Brooklyn, honey, are you okay? You look a little dizzy."
