"Yes, I understand that you have a process," Cashmere gritted out, "But, do you understand that that jackass in there and his crazy friends put a lot of my friends in the hospital, tonight. My siblings. I now have two people in surgery who will potentially die because of his actions. Not to mention, the bastard killed Cole's fiancé. I, at least, deserve to know why. My family deserves to know why."

"Cashmere, look-", the detective began.

"No, you look", Cashmere growled. He paused to take a deep breath. "Solstice, I just found out my sister is pregnant. So, not only is her life in danger, my nephew or niece's life is, too. And I don't even know who the father is. Or if she was..." He couldn't bring himself to say the words, pausing to take in a ragged breath. "You think about that and tell me I am not owed this. If not by the man responsible, or by you, then by the fucking universe. Let me see him."

Both he and the detective, revealed as Solstice, were locked in an intense staring match.

A battle of wills.

"Solstice, I know you and I have a complicated history, but-", Cashmere began.

"This is not about that", Solstice interrupted harshly, "This is about me keeping my job." She sighed deeply and looked upward, as if praying, before addressing Cashmere once more. "Five minutes", she decided, "That's all. And only because they were my family, too, at one point."

"That's all I need", Cashmere assured, bowing his head in thanks as Solstice led him to the holding cell of the man who had ruined his family's night.

But, his gratefulness only lasted for so long. Eventually, his fists were, once again, clenched at his sides, violent images flashing through his mind. The things he could do to that man...

He pushed the malicious thoughts away once he and Solstice came upon the unidentified assailant's cell. His face was a mix of surprise and disgust when he noticed Cashmere's presence.

'So, that's the way this is gonna go', Cashmere mused darkly, leveling the man with an equally disgusted glare. "You and I", he began, "Are gonna have a nice little talk... about why the fuck you thought it would be a good idea to rally up some buddies and shoot up my brother's engagement party."

The man's jaw clenched defiantly.

"Keep it clenched", Cashmere dared, "Makes it much easier to break it."

'What have I done?', Solstice sighed tiredly.
