In the world were magic is commonplace, it is divided into categories. The most common category is the six elements, in which the elements themselves has shaped the world for thousands of years. Anyone can learn how to manipulate the elements, but it takes focus and mana to pull it off.

Here are the six elements:

Fire: the power to burn stuff, and used to forge things. There are sub categories like explosion and magma, in which it draws the power of fire in order to perform explosion magic or magma magic.

Water: the power to wash away enemies. It can be useful like making sailing a ship easier by manipulating the ocean waves, or using water to heal the wounded. The only sub category is ice, because ice magic can freeze enemies as well as making protective barriers.

Air: the power to manipulate the wind. It can blow enemies away as well as zapping them with lightning, but it can be useful by manipulating the wind to fly. If combined with water magic, a magician is able to conjure a rain cloud or calling forth a hailstorm.

Earth: the power to shape the very soil. It can allow a magician to manipulate earth to create protective barriers, or causing an earthquake. Not only that, they can summon boulders and manipulate plant life. The only known sub category is sand magic, which allows a magician to manipulate the sand into defensive or offensive depending on the situation.

Light: the power to shine on the world. It draws on the power of sunlight, and moonlight. Various magicians tried to manipulate the power of light, only seven out of ten were successful. It is discovered that an ancient tribe of magicians called the Equinox used the power of light in many of their devices, before disappearing. A magician who manipulates the power of light can shoot beams of light, create barriers made from solidified light, etc.

Dark: the power to cast a shadow. It draws on the darkness of the night and anything that casts a shadow, it's also the opposite of light. Magicians who manipulate the power of darkness can shape the shadows into anything useful, but it takes willpower to resist it's corrupting influence. Positive emotions like thinking about someone you loved can help you resist the power of darkness, but negative emotions such as hate can corrupt.

There are other magic powers that don't fit into the elements, like the category of enchantment. Sometimes a type of magic is invented in some places, that can draw on one or two elements.

Enchantment: a type of magic system where you can imbue objects with magical properties, manipulate people via charm magic, or create golems. Magicians who specialize in enchantment are called enchanters and enchantresses, due to the fact that enchantment is another common magic system alongside with the elements.

Ritual magic: ritual magic can take components in order to perform rituals, like bringing someone back from the dead or opening portals. However, it's very dangerous since one of the rituals requires a live human sacrifice while most magicians felt disturbing graves and bringing someone back is very unnecessary, because it disrespects the dead. The Black Leaves organization is limited to utilize ritual magic to bring dead magicians back to life, since they can't use a type of magic to restore the dead properly due to how they perform dark magic.

Ink magic: originating from the far East, it allows a magician to manipulate ink by writing or by drawing. Drawing things while using ink magic can bring any drawings to life, but one flaw about it is water. Water can wash away drawings and writing, rendering any ink magician helpless when on water.

In order to learn magic, one must train under a magician or born with the gift of magic, though it is rather uncommon. A magician can learn up to two magic types, but to learn another, one has to give up the other two. To do that, they have to recite an incantation that revoked their powers in order to start anew.
