CHAPTER TWO

The weather was getting colder, and Diana couldn't have been happier. "Finally! I love winter!" she exclaimed as she headed for breakfast.

Her mother reminded her and her brother to come home early because their cousins were visiting. "We'll be home early, Mom," Diana said as she left for school.

On her way, Diana noticed a girl petting stray cats. The sunlight made the girl's long brunette hair shimmer, and her hazel eyes sparkled. Diana was captivated by her smile.

"She's like an angel," Diana whispered to herself. But the girl's school bus arrived before Diana could approach her. Disheartened, Diana resolved to meet her again.

For the rest of the year, Diana waited each morning at the bus stop, hoping to see the girl again, but fate was unkind. She never saw her again and didn't know her name or school.

As middle school continued, rumors began to circulate about Diana dating multiple boys, despite her never having even held hands with anyone. The rumors were started by a friend and his male best friend, whom Diana had rejected.

"I can't believe this," Diana said to her classmates. "I've never even dated anyone or held hands with a guy."

Relieved to leave that environment, Diana started at a new school, far from her house, though some old classmates followed her. On the first day of high school, Diana arrived late and missed the assembly. She struggled to find her classroom but eventually settled into her seat. Amidst her anxiety, she saw a familiar face that had captivated her before.

"That's her!" Diana whispered to herself. She followed the girl until she left school, feeling as if it was destiny.

The next day, Diana stood near the girl's desk with her friend Lizz to get closer. When the girl arrived, Diana introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Diana. What's your name?"

The girl replied, "It's Claire."
