Lately, Sasuke has been acting like a huge jerk, but you had no reason why. He wasn't like this in the beginning. He used to joke around, laugh and mess around with you with a kind look in his eyes that was only shown to a few. Now, he bullies you whenever the opportunity opens up, and if you talk to him, whether it be game plays or an invitation to hang out or to ask for his opinion, he ignores you and gives you the cold shoulder, and when he looks at you, his eyes are filled with the most amount of hatred you've ever seen. But why? Why did he change all of a sudden?
You kept asking yourself that over and over again, trying to remember what you could've done to deserve such horrible treatment from him. But little did you know, it was because of his jealousy.
As I entered the gym after class, I was surprised to find some of the boys already warming up: Naruto, Kiba, Shikamaru and Rock Lee all sat together in a circle stretching out their legs.
"Oh? To what do I owe this surprise?" I chuckled, closing the gymnasium doors behind me. I immediately knew something was up when they pretended to be immersed in their stretches while the hoops were still up, along with the roll away carts full of basketballs still stashed in the closet. To further add to suspicion, some of the lights hadn't been switched on. Usually, I was the first to arrive, and the first thing everyone did was prepare everything for practice.
"Kiba was worried that he might pull a muscle in his thigh, so we're teaching him good stretches." Lee casually replied, a little too casually.
"Did someone break something?" I asked, shaking my head at their terrible acting skills. They weren't even stretching correctly. "You know, Sakura-chan will have your necks if she comes in and sees this."
"Once we are stretched properly, we will help you, (N/N)-chan." Naruto raised his hand and waved me away, acting a little too pretentious to be serious, trying his best not to smile. Were they playing a prank on me?"Unbelievable." I grumbled, walking into the locker room and placing my things in my locker. I checked my phone, realizing that it was even earlier than I thought, making it stranger that the practice slackers, minus Lee, were all present. I eyed them suspiciously as I walked out and flipped some of the remaining lights on, then made my way to the supply room to retrieve the practice items.
I unlocked the doors, then retreated into the supply room. It was slightly messy, so I decided to tidy up after rolling the ball carts outside. I had forgotten to flip the light switch on, and instead relied on the afternoon light illuminating from the small ceiling window as I searched for a broom. As I did so, I heard some commotion outside, I assumed that more of the boys had arrived.
"Oi! Temeee-" Hearing his nickname caused me to bite my lip. Maybe I should stay in here and pretend to be busy until practice starts. After I had thought about him for the entire night, I wanted to save myself the embarrassment and awkwardness of pretending to be okay.
"The returners are in the supply room. Will you grab them?" The second I understood what Naruto had asked, my eyes averted to the shelf beside me. The basketball returners were not in their regular place, as if someone had taken them.
That was when I put everything together. Yet, before I could even think about fleeing outside, I heard the door creak back open, fluorescent light flooding back into the cramped closet. Silently cursing at myself, I managed to gain the courage and turn to look at him.
"Oh sorry, I'm looking for-"
"They're not in here." I interjected, about to suggest where, when I noticed Naruto peeking his head from behind the door. The whole ordeal felt as if it was in slow motion, his motives becoming blatantly obvious, shooting a wink in my direction before slamming the door shut.
