Bisola
"What?" I whisper-yelled my voice sounding surprised as the words sank in "Why? Why do you want to break up with her?"
James looked ahead and then shook his head slightly "It's not as simple as I thought it would be,"
It's not as simple as he thought?
"What's going on James?" I inquired.
"Nothing," he replied almost immediately "I don't want to talk about it, and I don't want to bother you with my problems,"
"Bother me?" I hope he is not hearing the excitement feigned in my tone "James tell me what is going on,"
His gaze whisked to my direction as he contemplated it, staring at my face for a few seconds which made my heart flutter a bit, and my stomach dipped.
He sighed "It's just," his lips formed a thin line "I love her,"
Attack.
"And I don't want to lose her"
Double Attack.
"She is the best thing that has ever happened to me."
K.O.
"But, something doesn't feel right,"
"And that is?" I asked, trying to ignore my aching chest. I would not have guessed that he liked her so much that he could even use the l-word. It hurt, badly. It made me feel like everything I'd been doing was a useless effort. Like I was wasting my precious.
But I couldn't just give up, not now. There was no one else for me except James, and it was hard to think about falling in love with someone else. He was the one for me and I wouldn't back down now, not when he had just revealed to me that he'll be breaking up with Jane.
I straightened my back, clenching the irons of the swing as its cool feel met my fingertips, and blinked my tears away. James sat slouched on the swing, clasping his palms together.
"It's nothing." He replied.
Maybe he doesn't want to talk about it.
"Okay," I gave up. Perhaps I could ask John, although I wasn't in the mood to see him after what he did earlier.
Idiot.
James rose, dusting his trousers "It's about time I leave. It's getting late,"
I nodded in approval and stood up.
James smiled "It was nice talking to you today,"
I smiled back "Yeah,"
He folded his large arms "I might be busy the week but once I'm free, I'll give you a call and we can go for dinner, okay?"
I nodded my head. Well, that was one thing to look out for after such a hectic week.
He grinned "Let me walk you back home,"
