Goodnight Kisses to Nighttime Fights

Being read to sleep as a kid,
Your mother's hand rested on yours.
She reads your favorite book as you drift off to sleep.
She tucks you in with a goodnight kiss, and smiling at her precious baby before gently closing the door.

Listening to music before bed,
She yells to get your attention but you don't hear.
The headphones get ripped off your head and the words start to fly out from her mouth.
The dreadful words that no kid wants to hear from someone they love so dear.
Like lava it stings and burns,
Bringing you to tears and running off.

When did goodnight kisses turn into nighttime fights?
