"Juliette is banging Trevor Zegras!" Nolan yells once we get back to our house. Of course my dad, Finian, and Finian's fiancée heard it. I've already had enough of the teasing. Luke teased me for a little bit but most of the teasing came from Quinn, that little shit head.
"Zegras?" My other brother asks, stepping toward me with a raised eyebrow. He crosses his arms, his muscles flexing as he does so. I roll my eyes, he's obviously in protective mode already.
"Really?" My dad asks with a smile. I almost laugh at how enthusiastic my dad looks. He's way less protective than my brothers, in fact he encourages me to date.
"Fin." Melody, Finian's fiancée, puts a manicured hand on his bicep. "Juliette can date whoever she wants." She scolds him gently.
"Thank you Mel." I point to her dramatically while glaring at Finian. "Also," I hold a finger up, "I am not banging Trevor. We're not even dating. I don't even have his number!" I turn to direct my glare towards Nolan.
"Do you want his number?" Finian asks, looking a bit more panicked than before. I roll my eyes.
"You should get his number. He's a good guy." My dad speaks up again. "In fact I'll text his mom the good news!" My dad starts to pull his phone out to text Trevor's mom.
"No!" Finian and I yell at the same time. My dad pauses his movements with wide eyes and slowly puts his hands up in surrender.
Nolan is behind me cackling like a fucking witch. I turn to him again and shove him hard. He stumbles back a little, his laughter stopping. "Fuck you." I mumble to him but everybody heard it.
"Hey, watch that language!" My dad yells in his stern 'dad voice'. I decide to ignore him and everyone else and storm up to my room like a typical teenager.
This is why I don't date. Finian and Nolan scare every guy away before they even have the chance to say hello. If my brothers don't scare him away, my dad does with the 'so when are you getting married' questions. I haven't truly dated someone since sophomore year of highschool because of them.
It's moments like this where I wish my mom stayed so I could go to her for advice. I almost call Mrs. Hughes but I decide against it. It's stupid anyway because I don't even like Trevor like that. Sure, he's attractive but I don't know him well enough to like him. It's not something to call Mrs. Hughes over.
Loud voices outside of my room draws my attention away from my anger. "Yeah, we're going to the rink tomorrow morning." Nolan yells from the top of the stairs which is right outside of my room. My dad responds with something but I couldn't hear what he said.
That's my chance to get back at Nolan. I'll hide his sticks from him so that he won't be able to find them. And if he does find them he'll be late to meet up with his hockey friends because Nolan always waits until the last 5 minutes to get ready.
A large grin takes over my features as I slowly get up out of my bed and tip toe to the door. I press my ear against the door, listening for Nolan. I hear him mumbling to himself in the bathroom which is across from my room. I hear the click of a light switch and Nolan's footsteps. He walks downstairs.
I step back from the door and let out the breath I was holding. This is dangerous, Nolan might actually kill me. He's so superstitious about his sticks it's not even funny. He flips out if I even look at them. But I've had enough of Nolan so I'm going to get back at him.
I open my door as quietly as I can, making sure to stop it just before it hit the part where it starts creaking. Then I tip toe out of my room and down the hall into Nolan's room. He left it wide open which is thankfully one less step in my plan.
Once I'm in his room I start scanning for his sticks. I find them leaning against the wall in a corner. I carefully walk over to them, looking over my shoulder every few seconds to make sure no one walks in.
I stare at the sticks in front of me. Nolan will actually kill me. Is it really worth dying over? Yes.
I grab the sticks before I change my mind or Nolan catches me. I feel like I'm committing a crime even though it's just hockey sticks. I suck in a breath and tip toe out of Nolan's room as fast as I can.
Once I reach my door I hear a small giggle. I stop dead in my tracks, glancing down the stairs. Melody is at the bottom of the stairs, watching me, and stifling her laughs with the back of her hand. I put a finger up to my lips, silently telling her to be quiet.
"Angel, is everything okay?" I hear Finian ask, his voice getting closer, indicating that he's walking towards Melody. Both me and Melody's eyes go wide. I quickly slip into my room before Finian can see me. Fin would probably tell Nolan on me just because he's mad at me for the whole Trevor thing. But I know Melody won't tell on me.
Finian met Melody a few years back when he just started playing professional football. He brought her home for a week in the summer and she just fit right into our family. She's like an older sister to me as well. Plus it's nice to have a girl around the house. They're getting married in two weeks and wanted their wedding here in Michigan so that's why she's staying here. Usually she stays in Dallas with her family but they're coming here pretty soon.
I place Nolan's sticks by my desk. Now I need to come up with where to hide the sticks. I can't just hide them in my room, that's the first place he'd look. The downstairs is off limits because Nolan is down there. He'd check Fin's room too so they cant go in there.
The only other option is the bathroom. And if I hide them in the shower and close the curtain, he'd probably never see them. He takes showers at night so I'd have to hide them after his shower. I would just have to rely on Nolan not noticing they're gone until the morning. Perfect. He's a little unobservant so my plan most likely will work.
I grin at Nolan's sticks. I'm about to get the sweetest revenge.
