I got up from my bed after my alarm went off. I turned it off quickly because I wasn't asleep in the first place.

I walked over to my drawers in the corner of my room and picked out my uniforms. I then walked over to the bathroom and changed into my uniform. I did my usual routine. Brush my teeth, brush and braid my hair, and apply petroleum jelly to my lips and eyelashes.

I walked out of my room and approached my mom's door. I sighed before knocking softly. No answer. I opened her door a bit and peeked inside. There she was, sitting on her bed, I slowly walked inside her room, nervous.

"Hi, Mother," I said, my voice breaking because I was scared.

"What do you want?" She spoke harshly.

"Do you have any money for me to use at school?" I walked in front of her, which was a bad idea.

She slid her hand across my face, making me wince in pain. "No, I don't have any money for you. How about you get off your lazy ass and get a job?" My mother screamed at me. My eyes watered as I blinked faster trying not to cry.

"Yes, Mother. Sorry for asking." I said quietly. I walked out of her room and closed her door behind me.

I walked downstairs and put on my shoes. As I did so, a few tears rolled down my face. I stood up and wiped my tears.

'This is an everyday thing, I don't know why I'm crying today, it's not any different.'

I sighed and grabbed my sweater. Soon leaving the house.

I walked into the high school which was crowded with students. Some in the middle of the hallway, some by their lockers.

I started to walk over to my locker when I started to get a strange feeling that someone was following me.

It was a feeling I couldn't ignore so I turned around. That's when I saw Jade, he was looking up at the ceiling, pretending he wasn't following me. I laughed at him.

"I know you're following me, Jade."

"Alright, you caught me." He snickered.

He walked up to me and stood in front of me. I looked up at him so we could be face-to-face.

He then furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head. "You alright? Your eyes are red." He inspected my face. "And your cheek is red." He cupped my face.

"I'm fine, I promise," I reassured him.

"If you say so," Jade said.

I walked to my locker with Jade following behind me. "Oh, by any chance do you have 10 bucks?" I asked him.

"Nah, sorry. I only have enough for my lunch today. We can share though."

I smiled at him and nodded.

~Time Skip~

In class, I looked up and down from the board to my textbook which caused my eyes to hurt a bit. I ignored it because I needed good grades. If I didn't get them, Mother would be mad.

"Alright class, Remember that the project deadline is in 2 more weeks." The teacher reminded his class.

I packed up my stuff and walked over to Jade's desk, feeling quite nervous about his response. That nightmare got to me.

"Alright, I'm ready. We can leave now." Jade smiled at me.

Jade and I left the classroom and made our merry way to my house.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I unlocked my door and we both walked inside.

I looked in the kitchen and I noticed a familiar figure. It was my mother. She was sitting at the table.

"Jade, can you go upstairs and get everything settled? I'm gonna talk to my mom."

"Uhh, yea," Jade said as he walked upstairs.

I hesitantly walked over to my mother. "Hi, Mother," I said quietly, but joyfully.

I was slapped across the face by my mother. Again. "Why do you keep bringing people into my house?" She stood up and grabbed my hair. "What are you, some type of whore?" She gripped my hair tighter, and I cried out in pain.

"Shut the hell up or your little boyfriend will hear you."

"H-he's not m-my boyfriend" I stammered.

"So what is he, your little boy toy? Is that why he's here every day?" She asked.

"He's just my project partner," I said in between tears.

"Yea right." She threw me to the floor. "Go to your room. Now." She kicked me up off the floor.

I scrambled off the floor and ran upstairs.

I quickly opened the door to my room and closed it. I slid down the door, completely forgetting about my project partner that was looking at me with serious concern.

"Amelia?" He rushed over to me. "What happened?" He wrapped his arms around me and I cried into his shirt.

"It's not fair, it's not fair, it's not fair" I kept repeating to myself. Jade used one hand to rub my back and the other to rub my hair. I felt cared for.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked me, his voice was soft and quiet.

"No, I'm just tired. You can go home if you'd like."

"Hell no. You're obviously going through a hard time. I'm not leaving you like this." He looked at me with his eyes still full of concern.

I smiled at him sincerely but was surprised when I suddenly rose from the ground. Jade had picked me up bridal style and laid me down on my bed.

"You can go to sleep. I'll work on the project." He said.

I got comfortable on my bed and looked up at him once more. He smiled at me and bent down and gave me a peck on the cheek. He then went over to the spot where we worked and started typing.

I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
