The next morning, Kaeya left Kaya with Klee and Albedo while he went to an emergency meeting Jean had set up. He had woken up that morning to one of the cavalry captains frantically shaking him awake. There was terror written in his eyes. Apparently, in the dead of knight, the abyss attacked Springvale, burning the city to the ground. Diluc and the few knights on patrol at that time did the best they could with such short notice, but being outnumbered 1 to 10, they were only able to save the citizens. They stood watching in shock from the cliff side, as the small town was engulfed in flames. Diluc allowed the frightened townspeople to stay at Dawn Winery for the night but was anxious for them to leave. This can't be a coincidence, right? What are the odds that he rescues a pure blood Khaenri'ahn from a group of Abyss Mages, only for them to attack and level an entire town that same night. Was it him, or was it her? Are they trying to send a message? Could she possibly be? No. She's too young. It would be impossible, unless...

Kaeya was pulled from his thoughts as someone lightly tapped his shoulder. It was Lisa. She subtly nodded her head to an overwhelmed Jean, being bombarded with questions. Knights, cavalry captains, head people from the town, they were asking her what we're supposed to do. If the abyss is going to make its way to Mondstat, do they need to make an emergency evacuation? How does she plan to protect her people. Is she going to help rebuild Springvale since her knights failed to protect them

"Listen," Kaeya yelled walking to the bookshelf and standing in front of the clock, everyone's eyes were turned on him, "if the Abyss planned to make their way to Mondsat, they would've been here already. So, there is no need to go about complicating things. Go on about your day, mention nothing to anyone, this stays with us. If I...we, "Kaeya said, motioning to Diluc and Jean, "think this is getting out of hand, then we'll plan an evacuation. But for now, I need every cavalry captain, with the exception of Albedo, to organize a team of knights and be ready in 30 minutes. This ends now." The room was silent, but everyone understood. Say nothing, keep the peace, and trust the knights. It's what they've always done. The people from Springvale will continue to stay at Dawn Winery until they start to rebuild the town.

Kaeya stood staring out the window as everyone left the room. He could feel the walls coming in again. What did he do? Why did he have to be loyal to different places? Is this fate catching up with him? Is this where he has to make that decision? Turn his back on his people, or the only place he calls home? Unless...Kaeya ran out the door and past the knights, jumping over the steps, ignoring Jean and Lisa's voices calling him back. He had to find Albedo and Kaya. He had to know the truth. Who she was, why she was here. She couldn't possibly be related to him. No, his father supposedly died according to Dainsleif and Aether. But what if they were wrong. He had to know.

Kaeya got to the beginning of Dragonspine, where the camp of explorers was set up, but no one had seen Albeo come through. One lady said he should be back soon, but Kaeya didn't have time to sit around and wait for him. The thirty minutes he gave the knights had ended, and he needed to get back, but he couldn't leave without knowing. Just as he was about to leave, Klee, Albedo, and Kaya came around the corner from behind a rock. Klee grabbed Kaya's hand and practically dragged her over to hug Kaeya. He chuckled a bit, squatting down to catch them. The force knocked him over, sending Klee and Kaya into laughing fits.

"Oh, Kaeya," Albedo said with a smile, walking over to pull Klee off, "is the meeting over?"

"Not exactly," Kaeya said, sitting up and placing a hand on Kaya's face. She really was a spitting image of him, just with pink hair. Kaya tilted her head with a curious look on her face, "Sorry Kaya, I just need to know something," he said softly, taking his hand off her face, "I need to know your name. Your full name." Kaya looked at the ground the same way he had when Master Crepus had asked that question.

"Kaya Alberich." she said softly.
