Kaeya spent the next ten years using his knowledge and the years he spent as a knight, to train Kaya to be the best soldier there was. He taught her what love and patience was, he made sure she knew right from wrong. Kaeya made sure she learned from her mistakes and did her best to be better, and Kaya turned out to be a better leader than he would have ever been. The immortal guards and cursed people respected her and followed her orders, something he would never have been able to earn. A big part of it was that Kaya hadn't had time to betray them, and he had, but she loved with all her heart and ruled justly. She made time for learderly things as well as family and friends. She and Kaeya would visit Klee every year on her birthday, making sure the bond they had never disappeared. Kaeya would stand at the edge of Dragonspine watching Mondstat from afar as the two caught up, longing to go back and see the friendly faces of his friends. But all he ever did was watch and stare, fearing what waited for him down there.
Over the past ten years, Albedo kept the whereabouts of Kaeya a secret. No matter how many times Jean pleaded and asked for his help, it didn't matter how many threats Diluc gave him, he never said a word. Albedo would just shrug his shoulders and continue with his work. Did it hurt keeping his friends in the dark, yes, but Kaeya wanted this. Albedo would casually mention seeing Jean and Diluc whenever they came to visit, but it was always a hard no from him.
Diluc spent the first couple months minding his business and continuing his work hunting down the abyss, trying to keep his mind off his brother. But as the abyss slowly start to disappear from teyvat, Diluc was left to spend his nights roaming the same places Kaeya did, losing sleep over trying to find his brother. As days turned to weeks, and weeks to months, months to years, Diluc lost hope and eventually gave up, shutting himself up in Dawn Winery living in guilt. He went against his own morals and became the same pathetic drunk his brother was. When the alcohol wore off and the hangover kicked in, Diluc would stand in the bathroom staring into the mirror laughing at his reflection. His brother had every right to leave without saying anything, I mean, he was pathetic. And anti-alcohol turning against his beliefs and spending his nights knee deep in bottle sand self-hatred, Diluc would've left too.
